Product Description
Product Description
Based on Heidi Murkoff's 16 million copy best-selling book, WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU'RE EXPECTING is an ensemble romantic comedy in the vein of LOVE ACTUALLY and VALENTINE'S DAY. The film is a modern look at love through the eyes of five interconnected couples experiencing the thrills and surprises of having a baby, and ultimately coming to understand the universal truth that no matter what you plan for, life doesn't always deliver what's expected.

An all-star cast afflicted with baby fever gives What to Expect When You're Expecting a lot of heart and more than a few laughs. This is a fictionalized account of the best-selling advice book, interweaving several couples' storylines as they deal with pregnancy, fertility issues, adoption, and more. Standouts include Cameron Diaz as a high-powered celebrity fitness trainer and Matthew Morrison of Glee as her TV dance partner; Jennifer Lopez, a successful photographer yearning for a child; and Elizabeth Banks (30 Rock), hilarious as a sanctimonious motherhood champion who has to confront some of her own preachiness when she suddenly becomes pregnant herself. And the guys are funny, too--especially Chris Rock, a member of the "dudes' group" who bond with their tots and each other every Saturday in the park, and Dennis Quaid, a blowhard expecting twins with his new trophy wife (Brooklyn Decker, a very talented comedian). There's not much of a plot in What to Expect When You're Expecting; it's more like a series of well-directed (by Kirk Jones) snapshots or webisodes--but the strong cast and light touch give the movie its appeal. It helps if you are in or have been in baby-fever mode to truly appreciate What to Expect; it also helps if you enjoy frequent barf jokes and a ton of product placements for Delta Air Lines. Overall, though, What to Expect When You're Expecting is a cheery send-up and embrace of the miracle--and terror--of pregnancy. Pass the pickles and ice cream. --A.T. Hurley

The sporty pregnant woman that does yoga, water pilates, and still finds time to work a full-time job.
The pregnant woman that has all problems possible with her pregnancy. Smelly gas, heartburn, morning sickness, fatigue.
The pregnant woman that makes pregnancy look simple because she is so glamorous the entire time.
The woman that couldn't have children so she adopts.
And the teenage couple.
Without revealing any of the plot, Elizabeth Banks character is by far my favorite. She is hilarious in every scene she's in. Also, the dad group definitely brings some masculine energy into the scene. Chris Rock never ceases to amuse me.
I don't have a single maternal bone in my body so I didn't think I would enjoy this movie as much as I did, because it just wasn't relatable to my single and childless life, BUT I fully enjoyed every part of it. I think the men of the world will enjoy this movie, too.
***May contain vague spoilers*** If you have had any experience with babies, or are close to someone that have, you will appreciate the humor. Also, they did a good job at showing different baby experiences. Kudos for that. They have the mom with the crappy experience (which I could better relate to, as I was puking for the entire pregnancy but even she had it easy in my eyes:) Then there was the race car drivers young wife who felt awesome during the pregnancy and literally sneezed the baby out. It's funny but true, that some people are lucky enough to have it that easy. They touched on symptoms of pregnancy, a c-section, miscarriage, and a heart felt adoption scene. Overall enjoyable if you aren't 'EXPECTING' a phenomenal movie.
The "Dudes Group" of dads who walk with their babies in the park on Saturdays may not be very realistic, but it's a good attempt at showing the fathers' experiences in a movie full of pregnant women.
