On August 21, 2019, Liam Hemsworth filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus, making it clear that the marriage was over, even though sources told TMZ that Cyrus had privately still been fighting for their relationship. A year later, Hemsworth is thrilled to be over the pain of that breakup and is living much differently than he was with Cyrus, according to E!.

A source told the outlet that "Liam is happy to have moved on and is living a completely different life now. The way things ended between them didn't sit well [with him] and he was saddened by it all. It took him time to come to terms with the end of their relationship and to process it all. He knows that he is in a better place and that they needed to move on from one another."

Hemsworth is now living in Australia. He has a new girlfriend: 21-year-old Australian model Gabriella Brooks; they've been dating since late last year. They appear to have recently adopted a dog together, too, so their relationship is not exactly casual.

A source told Entertainment Tonight in April that Brooks played a big role in helping Hemsworth move on. "While Liam's family has been a huge support since the breakup with Miley, it was Gabriella who made him realize there is life after Miley," the source said. "Gabriella is quiet, low key. She loves to be alone with Liam and isn't seeking attention from others. Gabriella is young but adores him. She gets along with his parents and his closest friends. The moment they started dating, they had incredible chemistry."

Cyrus and Hemsworth aren't really talking at all now. Us Weekly was told by a source over the weekend that Hemsworth doesn't even think much of Cyrus a year after their split.“Liam kind of has a low opinion of Miley at this point,” a source said. “He was really hurt by their split.”

He also wasn't happy about her spilling details about their relationship in interviews (Cyrus made headlines for revealing she lost her virginity to Hemsworth at 16, as one example). “Liam has been trying to be as private as possible and respectful about their relationship and breakup, and it’s a shame to him and his family that certain aspects about his and Miley’s relationship have been made public," the source said. "He’s a very traditional and good guy and was very hurt by the way specific instances played out in front of the world."
