Important Information When Calling 911 from Mobile Phones

Mobile telephone calls made to 911 are answered by the State Police agency who have jurisdiction over the connected cell phone tower - in the City of Yonkers this is usually the New York State Police or sometimes the Bergen County Police in New Jersey. The State Police dispatcher will then ask the caller for their specific location and transfer the call to the local police department. This routing causes a slight delay in dispatching help to a location; therefore, when possible, use a landline telephone to call 911. To bypass the switching delay when using a mobile telephone, call our emergency line directly at (914) 377-7777.

Title VI Compliant
