Default Dolphin trainer scene deleted from Ace Ventura

What's the deal?? I catch the first Ace Ventura on like HBO or something the other day and after he does his Star Trek thing while investigating the empty dolphin tank (as Courtney Cox is talking to reporters) it jumps right to him checking out the filter.

What happened to the part where he impersonates the flamboyant european dolphin trainer?

"Seven years I am vith Zigfreid (holds up five fingers) and vee are making zeh dolphins disappear. And zen Roy is coming vith zeh vite tigers and zeh schtuffing in zeh pants and then I'm gone!"

Now I haven't seen either, so my reply may be both insulting and ignorant, but could those have been scenes from Ace Ventura 2?

That scene wasnt in the "original theatrical release", only on the VHS and DVD versions.

most likely, those scenes were deleted by hollywood executives under pressure from the government because of the military's use of trained animals.

hollywood has their movie scripts evaluated by the military before they're made. if the military approves, the movies are funded by the government (top gun, armegeddon, independance day). if the military does not approve, then they do not fund the films or assist the producers in any way (apocalypse now).

I don't think it was in the theater...I remember buying the VHS copy and being surprised at the "new" scene that was added. Don't know the reasoning behind it though

I have seen some extra scenes on the broadcast versions... Don't remember them though... I think one was an extension of the club scene where cannible corpse was playing...

actually, it was on the HBO version i got here. It was also on when it went on Fox. Trust me, I know almost all of Jim Carrey's big movies by heart. I would have noticed

wako29 - I couldn't agree with you more. I must admit I love Jim Carrey movies and have a ton of the lines memorized hehe.

I've seen Ace 1 on tv and it's so strange to see NEW scenes. I always thought that they had to cut back movies to put them on tv (for the commercials and stuff). In addition to the scene with the guy in his lab thing under the club, they also extended the one with Jim Carrey talking to Finkle's parents at their house. I think there were others but I can't really remember them. Does anyone know why they do that? Why do they take out some scenes and then add new ones when movies are played on tv?

edit: The same thing happened when the movie "Phenomenon" was on tv. They extended a few of the scenes there too.

one scene that was cut out is the one where he goes to a bar and gets in a fight. a guy breaks a bottle over the bar to cut ace with and ace takes out his contact lense and breaks it over the bar to fight with.
