Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony with the OSSSLP available on YouTube

This is the first concert with an audience since the pandemic began, held at the Teatro de la Paz on May 21

San Luis Potosí, SLP.- As of Friday, July 23, it will be available on the YouTube channel of the San Luis Potosí Symphony Orchestra (OSSLP), its first concert with an audience since the pandemic began, held at the Teatro de la Paz on May 21, and in which the Mtro. Alexander Pashkov, who performed Piano Concerto no. 23 by Mozart and Beethoven’s emblematic Fifth Symphony, reported the Ministry of Culture (SECULT).

This presentation brought together a large number of followers of the OSSLP, who followed the sanitary measures to enjoy a piano concert that some critics consider “has all the characteristics of the work of an old and wise teacher, giving the impression of having seen and heard everything and not having regrets. And in a sense Mozart was old, at the age of 30 ”.

The person in charge of interpreting the soloist parts of the Concert no. 23 for piano on that occasion was Mtro. Alexander Pashkov, who graduated as a pianist and composer from the “NA Rimsky-Korsakov” Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, an institution where he obtained his Master’s Degree in History and Theory of Piano, Pedagogy and Performance (1998), since 2016 he is the official teacher of “Cátedra Francisco Araiza” at the National Conservatory of Mexico City and he is currently a professor at the Conservatorio de las Rosas, in addition to offering private piano courses.

Subsequently, the OSSLP interpreted the three most famous short and one long notes of symphonic music, that is: Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony, written between 1804 and 1808 and premiered in a marathon concert on December 22, 1808, in the that the notes that make up the so-called “Symphony of Destiny” resounded and that in Beethoven’s own words: “it demonstrates the purity and nobility of music” that through great dynamic tensions became the masterpiece of romantic thought.

It is also known as the “Symphony of Destiny” because according to Anton Schindler (Beethoven’s first biographer), the musician thus referred to the initial motif of his work, that is, to the famous four notes (three short and one long). It premiered on Thursday, December 22, 1808 at the Theater an der Wien, in a four-hour marathon concert that exclusively included works by the German composer and was the last concert in which Beethoven played in public.

The rescheduling dates of cultural activities in person will be announced through the different spaces that the Ministry of Culture has in San Luis Potosí, such as institutional social networks, the “SLP Culture” App available for Android mobile devices such iOS, and in information and communication media.
