Chris Hemsworth recently blessed his followers’ eyes with an insane new workout pic, possibly giving a glimpse to what his character will look like in Thor: Love and Thunder. Though the last Thor movie, Ragnarok, was released in 2017, Hemsworth has appeared in many Marvel films since, including Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder will reportedly feature the return of other Avengers characters and is scheduled for theaters in 2022. In the meantime, Hemsworth has been keeping busy with his roles in the Netflix original Extraction and Men In Black: International.

Like most other Marvel movies, details about Thor: Love and Thunder are being kept strictly under wraps, but Hemsworth and other cast members have dropped a few hints about what to expect in the new film. When fans last saw Hemsworth in Avengers: Endgame, he took on the persona of Fat Thor, a version of the mighty God of Thunder who turned to beer and Fortnite after he failed to save the universe and lost his family, Asgard, and everything he loved. Luckily, by the end of the film, Thor is in a better place mentally, but fans have questioned whether or not the lovable Fat Thor is here to stay for the future of the MCU.

Recently, Hemsworth posted a new workout pic on his Instagram, suggesting that Fat Thor is no more. The image saw Hemsworth pushing a heavy “extra large donut” as he flexed his insanely large, unreal biceps. Though Hemsworth hasn’t confirmed that the photo was taken during his training for Thor: Love and Thunder, based on rumored shooting schedules and the words of his cast members, it’s extremely likely that Hemsworth is bulking up for the new Thor film. Be prepared to lay your eyes on the photo below:

Aside from his charisma and skills as an actor, Hemsworth has always been known for his fitness abilities and beast-mode muscles, but it’s still pretty shocking to get a glimpse of what the God of Thunder’s training routine is like. Surprised fans and co-stars left comments on the post, with Chris Pratt referencing his return as Star-Lord in Love and Thunder as he asked Hemsworth to put on 25 pounds so that Pratt would look better next to his fellow Chris onscreen.

Fat Thor was one of the most unexpected parts of Avengers: Endgame, and presented a different side of the character while exploring how failure and depression affects even the strongest of gods. If Hemsworth’s photo really was taken during his training for Thor: Love and Thunder, some fans may be a little disappointed to see Fat Thor gone so soon. Nevertheless, no matter how muscular Hemsworth looks, audiences can hopefully look forward to many more dramatic changes to Thor’s character and a deeper exploration of his psyche in Thor: Love and Thunder.
