The associated file, hpsisvc.exe appeared in running tasks when I installed  my new P1102w LaserJet.  Nice machine, but I am always on the lookout for non value added running tasks.  Two other files appeared, hppusg.exe (have no clue) and HP Laserjet service (seems appropriate) I will let slip for now.

Thanks,

HP SI stands for HP Smart Install, it is a function that is sometimes included with printer drivers installation. For more information: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=Im-80804-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=
