Shopping in Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona

If you are a fashion lover Passeig de Gràcia is your essential destination in Barcelona. Its large designer stores are a pleasure to peruse, whether you have any intention of making a purchase or not. Stores including Prada, Gucci, Loewe, Burberry and Dolce and Gabanna can all be found.

Our Insider Tip

If you'd like to splash some cash on Passeig de Gràcia but have no intentions of spending a four-figure sum on a handbag, you still have options. High street stores such as Zara, Mango and H&M all have large outlets along Passeig de Gràcia and offer both men's and women's clothing at affordable prices.

Gaudí Buildings on Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona

Casa Batlló - A Gaudí Building on Passeig de Gràcia in the City Centre

It would take a day in itself to view the major architectural offerings of Gaudí in Barcelona. You can find some of his most central and impressive creations on Passeig de Gràcia. My personal favourite is Casa Batlló. This building has a fantastical theme, with a pastel coloured mosaic front, mask-like balconies and a roof in the shape of a dragon's tail. It is a building unlike any other. I love watching people's reactions as they are stopped dead in their tracks by this little slice of magic in the modern city.

La Pedrera - A Gaudí Building on Passeig de Gràcia in the City Centre

Gaudí's La Predrera

This is the second and larger of the Gaudí buildings on Passeig de Gràcia . Its exterior is less colourful than the Casa Batlló and has a more austere presence. Of the two buildings I would recommend paying the entrance fee to see the interior of this one.

A sea life feel runs throughout. You will recognise the octopus themed tiles in the nursery room as those on the street tiles on Passeig de Gràcia. There is a stunning spiral staircase that has the appearance of the inside of a shell when viewed from below. The roof of the building also offers 360 degree views of the city.

Passeig de Gràcia is the pride of the city. It is dotted with impressive 'modernist' buildings, glamorous shops and up-market restaurants - the Champs Elysee of Barcelona. Whatever your reason for visiting the street, it is an essential part of a trip to the city.

Passeig de Gràcia is just one area making up Barcelona's city centre. I spent a day walking around the whole area, taking in some of the places that are slightly more off the beaten track. More information on what you can do in a day in the city centre.
