Today, we’re excited to announce the launch of new-and-improved wiki guides for mobile.
Strategy guides, cheats and secrets have always been an important part of IGN’s game coverage. IGN’s first strategy guide was for Super Mario 64, back in 1996. Guides for Goldeneye 007 and Final Fantasy VII soon followed. The big hook in 1996, the age of FAQs? IGN had screenshots. They were very small. Then, we went back and forth between our TVs and our PCs to get un-stuck in the stickiest parts of games. Now, we can just pull a mobile device out of our pockets. IGN’s guides for mobile debuted in 2012, but the world of smartphones has already changed dramatically since then. That's why today we’re launching our new-and-improved guides for iOS IGN app and in your mobile browser. We have completely revamped the way you navigate guide content on mobile. Guides have a ton of pictures, maps, walkthroughs and videos, and it can be tough to quickly find what you’re looking for. For example, our Skyrim guide has over 2,000 pages of helpful, in-depth strategy goodness. The new features we’ve implemented into our app like instant page filtering and integrated wiki search will help you find exactly what you need. Take a look at the before-and-after screenshots below to see just how much the mobile experience has improved.Be sure to check out these helpful guides:
We are continually working on updates for our guides. An Android update is coming in a couple weeks and more interactive features are coming to mobile web by year’s end.
