Song- In hell I'll be in good company.
Band- The Dead South
Possible Meaning-
It's a song from point of view of a Dead abusive husband who is killed by his wife. The husband is proud of his wife for standing up to him and taking action and at the same time disgusted by her action of killing him. The husband now knows that he won't go to heaven because of his deeds ( Oh Lord I ain't coming home with you) and his wife would too go to hell for killing him. Hence he will go to hell along with his wife and they both will keep each other company.

I feel like this song is about infidelity.
“Dead love couldn’t go no further. Proud of and disgusted by her”
Means the love is gone in the relationship. He is proud of her for the growth she has made as a person, but her actions (infidelity) have disgusted him.
“Pushed shoved, a little bruised and battered. Oh lord, I ain’t coming come with you”
Means they’re fighting all the time and he can no longer come home to his wife.
“My life’s a bit more colder. Dead wife is what I told her.”
His life isn’t filled with the love it once had. He is feeling the pain of her actions, and he told her she was dead to him.
“Brass knife sinks into my shoulder. Oh, babe, don’t know what I’m gonna do.”
Is a metaphor. She stabbed him in the back by cheating on him, and now he has no idea on how he will move forward with his life.
“I see my red head, messed bed. Queen bee, my squeeze.”
Wife has red hair. Messed bed is another metaphor for the act of infidelity in the bed they share. Queen bee and my squeeze are ways men refer to their wife (ie my old lady)
“The stage, it smells tells, hell’s bells, missed spells”
The stage is the front they put on in front of friends and family that they’re doing fine, but it “smells” and “tells” because everyone can see it’s fake. “Missed spells” is like a simple typo that other people see that shows they’re in a bad spot.
“Knocks me on my knees”
The husband is embarrassed. He is wondering “How long as everyone else known what she has been doing and why haven’t they said anything?”
“It didn’t hurt, flirt, blood squirt”
It felt good for her in the moment to flirt and be promiscuous with her new lover. The lack of “blood squirt” is no evidence of physical pain caused to him, but there is immense emotional pain.
“Stuffed short like me on a tree”
Is a simile comparing himself to a scarecrow. Stuffed shirt (like you stuff the shirt of a scarecrow with straw) and hung on a tree shows him sitting with an apathetic face due to not knowing what she is doing behind his back.
“After I count down three rounds, in hell I’ll be in good company”
He is now drinking heavily to temporarily escape the pain. Although he is going through hell, after he drinks his third round, he will be temporarily enjoying his life again.
Just how I view the song.I do not listen to shit like that
