A brilliant accomplishment

This book is a brilliant accomplishment, a literate, fascinating introduction not just to Western Music, great as that is, but to music as part of the human experience in every corner of the world. The audio and video clips linked to the book online are breath-taking in their variety, virtuosity and scope. I taught music appreciation in the late 1970's and was sent dozens of text books on the subject. Some were terrific if Western Music were the limit of one's interest, but none of them compared to the ambition and achievement of this book. I applaud the authors and most highly recommend this wonderful book.

The book itself was fine but...

The quality of the book is good but I had ordered this book solely for the online e-text which, low and behold, did not work when I entered it into Routledge. I tried contacting the seller but to no avail. And returning it was impossible, 60 bucks down the drain.
