The Philippines contains many languages aside from the Filipino language. Filipinos usually call them dialects and it shows how diverse Filipinos are when it comes to language like the Kapampangan from Pampanga or Ilokano from Ilocos.

Here are the following well-known Filipino dialects and languages:

  • English – One of the official languages of the Philippines and is being taught by schools.
  • Aklanon or Aklan – A language from Visayas that is native to the province of Aklan in the Island of Panay
  • Asi or Bantoanon – A Visayan language which originated in Banton, Romblon.
  • Binol-anon or Boholano Cebuano – A version of the Cebuano language used in the province of Bohol and most parts of Southern Leyte.
  • Bolinao or Binubolinao – A language from Central Luzon used in Bolinao and Anda of Pangasinan.
  • Bontoc or Finalig – An indigenous language of the Bontoc people of the Mountain Province.
  • Botolan – A language from Sambal in Botolan and Cabangan, Zambales.

  • Hiligaynon or Ilonggo – An Austronesian languase used in the Western Visayas and Soccskargen.

  • Kapampangan or Pampango – A language in Pampanga, Southern Tarlacm and Northeastern Bataan and is a major Filipino dialect.
  • Kabalian or Kinabalian – A language from San Juan, Leyte
  • Karay-a or Kinaray-a – A languago spoken by the Karay-a people in Antique.
