THE 10 BEST Things to Do in New Orleans with Kids (Updated 2024)
Such a beautiful and pretty big museum! It’s dedicated to the various theaters of World War II. It’s laid out nicely and worth the visit. Take the time to check out each floor. It’s also great for special, private events.
Nice parks with beautiful trees and statues. Would recommend grabbing some food and have a picnic in the park. Before going into the park can walk around and see the art exhibits.
Stunning residential community. It is a residential community, so be respectful. Also, go in with a plan. Being that it's a neighborhood, houses and parks worth seeing are spread out and you could find yourself wandering about.
Definitely worth the visit. So different from the grunge and hustle of the French quarter.
St. Louis Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in continuous use in the United States and a testament to the faith and vision of the Ursuline Sisters, who helped bring this cathedral into existence. Its magnificent architecture rivals many of the churches in Europe. It is certainly a place of solace and quiet just outside the hustle and bustle of Bourbon Street. We had the privilege of attending mass on Sunday and the choir was incredible…truly a beautiful spiritual experience.
This is a great place if you are visiting New Orleans. While the city center itself caters to a variety of food and music, here is where you can taka nice leisurely walk and see a few museums-that are all of very high quality. If you are coming to NO with family, do not miss this place. Plenty of parking and lots of trail, food and museums
It was very interesting to see a lot of huge characters displayed. We saw the process of how to make them and several of the floats. It was an inexpensive tour, well worth the time and expense. They even have a shuttle to transport you there and back.
Monique, Jade, and Alaina made me, a non local, feel welcome and valued. They made sure that I was well taken care of. I would come back again just to say hello. Wife is doing much better.
Any zoo that starts with flamingos is going to be fun. We enjoyed the exhibits, especially the two aviaries. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the food at the Zoofari cafe was hot and tasty. I didn't expect such good food, but I guess it's a New Orleans requirement.
The coolest part of the aquarium was the bayou exhibit. I've been to a lot of aquariums and this was so unique to Louisiana. I loved it.
The aquarium was fairly small, especially for the price. But they had well curated exhibits and an interactive ray exhibit where you could actually touch the rays.
We stopped in here to stretch our legs. We walked around the path, found a geocache and admired the large beautiful trees throughout the park. Free parking onsite.
Even the fact that I was alone didn't bother anyone to have a nice chat along the trip. A really nice park and definitely woth the visit. Even the rain wasn't so bad.
Excellent place for children to learn about insects. Adults interesting in little critters should enjoy it as well. The butterfly room is simply magnificent!
However, most notably in this place is its awesome staff; extremely friendly people ready to inform and educate everyone about the importance of nature preservation or to just have a friendly banter. Thank you Jean-Pierre; the conversation about hobby butterfly collecting vs. collecting the specimens for science was interesting!
I cannot recommend the street cars enough to get around NOLA. They're so convenient and cheap to navigate the city and outskirts. With the app it's so easy to navigate and purchase passes or single use tickets.
I will never visit New Orleans without being walking distance from the street car line.
A massive venue which has been home to the Saints and can hold 80,000. From the Pope to the Rolling Stones a whole host of shows have happened here. In fact at the International Pow Wow when I went the venue hosted a recreation of Mardi Gras on the arena floor complete with a panoply of New Orleans artists and a host of great New Orleans musicians and bands - amazing!
