Richard Wright – Wet Dream - Atmos / 5.1 immersive release - Hi-Res Edition

Richard Wright – Wet Dream

Richard Wright, co-founder of Pink Floyd and esteemed keyboard player, will release a special reissue of his charming debut solo album, "Wet Dream," on July 28th, which would have been his 80th birthday. The album has been remixed by the talented Steven Wilson, and this new release offers exciting features and improvements for fans to enjoy.

The reissue includes a Blu-ray audio option, which will be released at the end of September, featuring the album with various mixes. The new mixes include Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround DTS-HD Master Audio 96kHz / 24-bit, and stereo mix in Hi-Res 96kHz / 24-bit LPCM. Additionally, a flat transfer of the original pre-master of the 1978 stereo mix, taken from the analogue reels, has now been included at the request of fans, which was previously omitted from the physical formats. Fans will also be pleased to discover that Steven Wilson has contributed instrumental stereo mixes of the four vocal tracks on the album, a delight for completists.

All new album artwork has been commissioned by Richard Wright's children, Gala and Jamie Wright, who also manage his estate. Graphic design maestro Carl Glover contributed to the aesthetic presentation, adding to the visual appeal as well.

The release is housed in a Blu-ray sized book format with soft touch lamination and includes four collectible postcards and an 8-page concertina booklet. Additionally, fans will be treated to exclusive personal videos and a photo gallery, offering a glimpse into the life and times of Richard Wright during this creative period.

"Wet Dream" holds historical significance as it was released between Pink Floyd's iconic albums "Animals" and "The Wall." Initially, the album was overlooked, but with the new remix and extra music passages, it aims to shine a fresh light on Richard Wright's genius and lasting influence on modern music.

For analog collectors, a vinyl edition of "Wet Dream" will be pressed in transparent blue marbled vinyl, and also available at the end of September, marking the first time it has been available in this format since its original release in 1978. Moreover, this release will be the first time the album will be available on various streaming platforms.

The announcement of this reissue has undoubtedly excited fans, and the careful attention to detail in the mixes and artwork demonstrates a deep respect for Richard Wright's musical legacy. "Wet Dream" promises to be a truly excellent release for both devoted fans and new listeners alike.

Release Pushed back from September 28 to November 10, 2023.
