Pupils forge lifelong friendships as they navigate the complicated social dynamics of puberty in the vibrant hallways full of conversation and laughter. Students have many opportunities in high school to pursue their interests and hobbies, whether they are in the arts, athletics, clubs, academics, or extracurricular activities like lunchtime conversations.
But high school isn't without its challenges. Pupils may feel anxious about their options for the future and under pressure to achieve well academically. Many people experience stress and anxiety because it can be challenging to strike a balance between their social lives, extracurricular interests, and schoolwork.
However, this is also a time of growth and fortitude. Pupils acquire the capacity to overcome obstacles, bear setbacks, and recognize

My three years at Westlake High School have been a journey filled with both ups and downs. On the positive side, I have had incredible opportunities to explore my interests, engage in enriching extracurricular activities, and build lasting friendships. The diverse range of courses offered has allowed me to discover my passions and develop valuable skills in various subjects. Additionally, participating in sports teams and clubs has taught me teamwork, leadership, and time management. However, it hasn't been without challenges. Balancing academic responsibilities with personal commitments has been demanding at times, leading to moments of stress and self-doubt. Nonetheless, overcoming these obstacles has taught me resilience and the importance of perseverance. Overall, my time at Westlake High School has been a transformative experience, shaping me into a more well-rounded individual ready to take on future challenges with confidence.
Westlake is an amazing school for young black teens with avenues for academics, arts, and athletics. The IB and Magnet programs are unique to Westlake, as it is the only school in Fulton County to have an IB program incorporated in the school. The academic environment is competitive, yet encouraging and competent as well, seeing as Westlake has a large pool of students with 90+ GPAs on the 100-point grading scale. In addition to this, the athletics are a big part of the school. There are a good amount of different sports to participate in such as football, basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, etc. Athletics are widely regarded as an impactful avenue for students who participate. One of our alumni is NFL MVP, Cam Newton, which shows the level of competence and etiquette of the football department. The fine arts/music department is very in-depth with the band, orchestra, chorus, and theatre program. These three A's collectively have won many awards and gotten lots of recognition.
