Welcome to Term 1, 2024
Harmony Day - Wednesday 27th March (Week 9)
We had Harmony Day at our school on Wednesday 27th March 2024. This day was all about celebrating the different cultures we have in our school. We believe it's important that everyone feels like they belong here and that we treat each other with respect.
This year, the theme was 'everyone belongs'. We asked everyone to wear clothes that represent their culture or wear orange clothes. Orange is a special colour that reminds us to talk nicely to each other and to be ourselves. It's important to be respectful and kind, like saying 'please' and 'thank you'.
Harmony Day is celebrated all over Australia to show that we like having different cultures and that everyone is welcome to be friends. We also collected some money for the charity 'Save the Children', to help children who don't have as much as we do in other countries.
At our special assembly, our Principal, Ms. Marchiello, reminded us that our school motto is peace and harmony. Ms. Yasugi led the school in singing the song 'How Great We Are' by Benny Time. The morning assembly was run by our Stage 3 leaders and some Stage 3 EAL/D students who spoke in different languages.
During the day, we learned about different cultures in our classes and how we can all get along and be peaceful at school. It was a fun day where we celebrated our differences and made sure everyone felt included and valued.
