The look and feel of the restaurant and grounds are very relaxed whilst stylish and modern. The menu is quite restricted as well as using fancy descriptions which needed some explanation. Servings are quite small, whilst the prices are quite high (entrees about 20 and...mains - without sides, are between 32-45). Wines are tasty. Toilets could be better maintained/cleaned.More

We visited for the first time, despite it only being 6km from where we were staying with relatives. We had the complimentary tasting first before set, king on a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Shiraz to take home. The tasting host was very knowledgable...as you would expect. Next we had a charcuterie plate to share and this was really good when paired with a glass of Chardonnay. Will be back to do a premium tasting at $10 a person - rebated when you buy a bottle from their premium range. Just goes to show that you sometimes don’t ave to travel far for great wine and food.More

We are regulars at Shadowfax Winery and after several years have never been disappointed. The warm welcome from Matt on arrival and excellent care and service of Joey and other staff is excellent. The menu is updated regularly and always delicious. The meals are accompanied...by a selection of Shadowfax wines and tastings are available.More

12pm booking for lunch on a Friday and arrived to find no parking available adjacent to restaurant entrance. Ended up walking through puddles and mud or on wet grass to get back to the restaurant. Greeted and seated in a very open planned space with...the tables very close together. So hard not to hear conversations at the next tables. Entree of flat bread and dip large portion, cheesy rich dip that was lovely. Left one flat bread on plate and finished my glass of wine then waited for plates to be cleared. Staff walked past our table a number of times asking surrounding tables about their food etc. I asked a staff member to clear our plates and she was more than abrupt saying I thought you hadn’t finished. Then asked who was having what for mains, I asked for another glass of wine but didn’t know what to order. Said I’d like to try this one, she returned and filled my glass without saying anything. Sorry to say my linguine was lacking some of the seafood advertised, lobster tail over cooked and difficult to get out of the shell. Big serve of pasta which was good, cooked perfectly well seasoned. When our plates were cleared asked for another glass of wine but not the same as didn’t like it. Said to the waitress I’d asked to try and she said I should of asked then the conversation turned to very confrontational. I decided to try to get out of it by asking her opinion on wine. When she returned with my wine stated she had not charged me for the previous glass, I said you didn’t have to do that. Then she asked if I was alright, I asked why and was told I’d been (difficult) or words to that effect. I was so taken back to be talked to like that and with attitude. If looks could kill comes to mind. Determined not to let her spoil my lunch out ordered desert and cheese. Smokey chocolate terrine very rich and needed the ice cream which was very icy. Loved the piece of blue cheese that was accompanied with lots of crackers and fantastic fig bread. It was a real shame as the table next to us had another waitress who could not have been more helpful, friendly and professional.More

we had a lovely 4 course set menu for $55pp and were seated inside. there was live entertainment which was very nice. Love the ambience! the grilled octopus and it's cooked perfectly! it was so soft. love the charred taste on the octopus we had...the Mediterranean spatchcock (special dish of the day) - it was so delicious and juicy, not dry at all. I wanted it all to myself :) Sides; Garden salad with nice dressing and chips were very good also. Not a fan of the dark and white chocolate dessert unfortunately but overall we really enjoyed our lunch. would come back again to try the pizza next time.More

The food and wine were lovely but the service was terrible. The staff were very friendly but we needed to ask them for everything rather than them offering. And there doesn’t appear to be a dress code as there were workers arriving to dine in...their dirty work boots and high vis jackets. Unacceptable.More

Great restaurant, very well managed. Their tiramisu has to be the best in town. 10/10 for that! I’ll go back there anytime for that. They also have good woodfire pizza, really tasty soft pizza base with crunchy edges. Great selection of craft beer and wine...on their drinks menu, something for everyone. Only disappointment is the octopus entree! It’s a disaster on a plate. It’s overpriced, you get one tiny piece. In my case it was also over cooked, chewy and burned. Apart from that happy with my visit. Great friendly customer service, slow when busy but that’s understandable. They’re doing their best. Will be back, but won’t order octopus again! They really need to change that dish!More

We saw many good reviews about this restaurant so we decided to give it a go. We shared the entrees which consisted of croquettes, venison and pork sausages and flatbread. My favorite was the flatbread even if the rest were equally tasty. We ordered the...seafood linguine, porterhouse steak cooked medium rare, pork cutlet and the special pasta of the day. For desserts, we had tiramisu and Camembert cheese plate. We had the wine pairing which worked out nicely. Overall our experience was delightful but we had a few disappointments hence the “4” rating. The first one being the (special) pasta of the day was served cold. We told the staff about it and we were told we could have a dessert for free to make up for the mistake (hence the tiramisu). Second, we were sat on a table that had the aircon blowing directly at us so we were freezing throughout dinner. Finally, the Camembert platter had so little cheese (and it was not special either) and had a lot of crackers and grapes. This was disappointing. Still we recommend for people to give this place a try. It has a great setting, professional staff snd good food and wine.More

You'll find award winning wines on offer at shadowfax winery and cellar door, great variety and excellent customer service. Highly recommend having a tasting and then enjoying a meal here afterwards. The little Hamptons pinot is a fantastic drop and a wine you should try...if reds are your thing. It's a award winner, vegan friendly to. Highly recommend. The winery itself is very well located and is very well set out and located at the back of the Werribee Mansion hotel. Entry is via K Road Werribee South.More

The 3 pizzas we ordered were delicious, however the pasta was disappointing. It was the House made Fettuccine with zucchini and this unfortunately had an overpowering lemon flavour. There was no mention of lemon in the description. We thought that maybe the zucchini was pickled...in vinegar which could have been the reason for the acidity, however the menu said ‘garden zucchini’ which we took to mean fresh. We have dined here several times and have not been disappointed however this experience wasn’t as good as our previous ones. Please amend the menu so that the description accurately reflects the dish.More

Great to see Shadowfax Winery doing so well with lunch and so many bookings. We had the best dessert ....Affogatto ! It's a winner, try it. The entree's were delicious too especially the octopus and sardines. Aperol Spritz was perfect and staff excellent. Matt &...team ,you are doing great things down there. It had a good vibe eating outside. Thanks for a great local lunch.More

We booked lunch outside for 14 people. Our waitress was fantastic and our meals came out relatively quickly. The main courses were small and were not flavoursome at all. The ice cream deserts were small and ordinary to say the least. We enjoyed the wine,...beer and the outside setting was nice.More

A revisit, 7 years later. Still very good. Great food, wine, warm atmosphere. Friendly service. And the live music, guitarist was excellent. Not too loud and appropriate, added to the atmosphere.

Relaxed, neat casual is acceptable at Shadowfax. Many people dress up but it is not essential.

I didn't experience anything like that in both my visits and I don't have any detail as to what the complaint was. Might be best to ring the winery and ask to speak to the manager if you have a serious grievance.
