In the video, Mama June recounted her past struggles with weight, including her decision to undergo gastric sleeve surgery in 2015. She detailed her weight fluctuations over the years: "I used to weigh 550 pounds. So on my own, I went from 550 pounds to 311, the day that I had my surgery. However, she gained weight again while caring for her daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell during her battle with cancer, from which she tragically passed away at age 29 in December 2023.

"With the stress of everything going on, eating out, not eating right, just all kinds of stuff, I had packed on about 120, 130 pounds," June explained.

After unsuccessful attempts with other weight loss methods, the Mama June: From Not To Hot star consulted a doctor about semaglutide, expressing gratitude for her doctor's support in this decision. She committed to updating her followers weekly on her progress and challenges, saying, "Every week I'm going to come on here and give you my good, bad, indifferent, everything and we are going through this journey together."

The video concluded with Mama June showing her current physical state before starting the medication and demonstrated the first injection of the drug, marking the start of her latest weight loss attempt.
