Being a longtime Curtis Mayfield fan, it hurts me to say that these two albums should have stayed on the shelf. By this time in history [early 1990] disco is all but dead and Curtis had moved himself, his music production and recording studios to Atlanta. The compositions on the "We Come In Peace" album are not so bad lyrically, the musicians are mostly first rate players but the studio sound is awful and the production rings of cheapness. "Take It To The Streets", the second album of this twofer is even more bare bones production where Curtis Mayfield's trademark soulful guitar playing is absent and replaced by the worst sounding drum machine and synth programming ever and accompanied by uninspired band tracks. Even the cover art for this record looks cheap. It is true that Mr. Mayfields legacy is in tact having had thirty years or so of strong musical contributions, productions, compositions, performances and hit records but these two efforts are of his least artistic. He will forever be a giant and God bless him. R.I.P. Curtis.
