The late Wayne Pedzwater

I think he played with Buddy Rich in the late 70s-early 80s?

 

Hi, I just saw your post. Wayne was my husband. If you Google him under both spellings of his last name - Pedziwiatr, Pedzwater - you'll find many tracks to download.

Yes, he did (late 70s) - there's a great Youtube video of one of his solos with Blood Sweat & Tears (BS&T). He also played on many other records Michael Jackson, The Honeydrippers, Jewel, Lennon's Milk and Honey.....Just google him and there's lots of great stuff.
Most of all - he was an amazing guy.

I'm sorry for your loss and am eager to check out his work. I remembered Will Lee giving a shout out to him in some past Bass Player issue as well after he passed. If Uncle Will vouches for him, I'm guessing he was seriously Bad@$$

That was a heck of a solo! He had a beautiful Seventies Jazz too.

 

I used to go see Wayne playing around Boston in the summer of 1977...Tiger's Baku, Randy Roos Band, the occasional no-name pickup fusion group @ local jazz clubs. He was a monster, a really fantastic player who could groove, solo, fade into the rhythm section chameleonically or coerce follow-spot operators to forget about the frontman

(speaking metaphorically here; don't think they had follow-spots at Ryles or Pooh's Pub!)

 

I was just clicking around and came upon this site - I went to Berklee with Wayne and Pat Caddick, we spent some time hanging out in the basement of Pat's parents house in RI. Being a composer/arranger who 'played' bass guitar, I was in awe of Wayne's fluid style, great sense of humor ("XX 'em if he can't take a joke!") and big hair. Was saddened to hear of his passing not so long ago - and am enjoying the youtube clips. He was a monster, and a nice guy. May God bless the great memories and fun times. I just came across this link. Like Patty, I too was married to Wayne. We met in 1981. He was just off the road with BS&T. We toured the world with Simon and Garfunkel among others. He was the kindest, sweetest man ever, and such an amazing artist. We spent over a decade together, and being with him changed my life. He is so kindly thought of by myself and my family. We all miss him. Unfortunately we moved in different directions, however, I was so happy that he met Patty. She was his rock in his time of need and before.
