Tim M I'm no expert, but I know how I felt, and I loved it. It was more entertaining, and heartfelt than most movies/series out there. I binged (twice), the whole thing on my treadmill in two days. When it was over, I was really bummed. I went through the whole ordeal with those rabbits, feeling the same emotions. It was a great adventure. Having read the book many, many, years ago, I actually felt inspired to do so again. Hazel-rah! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review s k Amazing! Seen it more than once!! Hope there's a season two. An all time favourite in my book. Loved it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/20/23 Full Review Hunter H I understand it's a reboot, but personally I really enjoyed it. Some people didn't like the CG but it really didn't bother me. Plus I thought the voice acting was on par and even tho the story is basically the same as the original it still moved me. Overall I'd recommend it and it's something I come back to from time to time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Blake D The abysmal CGI completely distracts from the story and flattens all characters. Animal animation and fur rendering should be a breeze in the year 2018, just look at all the animated animals in His Dark Materials. Totally incomprehensible. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/19/22 Full Review john c This CGI re-telling of Watership Down lacks the emotional impact and resonance of the 1978 animation, which had superior voice acting, better music, more striking visuals, and a more intimidating antagonist in its version of General Woundwort. While this reimagining isn't absolutely awful, it just doesn't match what came before. This version does give some extra lore details (we get some backstory for Woundwort, for example), so this might be worth a watch if you're curious about those. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Despite the animation being a bit outdated, Watership Down 2018 provides a good adaptation of a wonderful book, with great voice acting and a fantastic soundtrack. Scott Bryan BBC.com The issue I had with this is the fact that the BBC has decided to change from four separate episodes to two feature-length episodes ... I was absolutely exhausted. I was drained. Jul 15, 2020 Full Review Suzi Feay Financial Times This beautifully realised Watership Down is ready to infuse a new generation with a dislike of hunting and greenbelt clearing, and to impress on them the advisability of leaving nature well alone. Rated: 5/5 Jan 2, 2019 Full Review Aja Romano Vox The moments that do work, work well - and the adaptation is at its best in its second episode, "The Raid." Dec 29, 2018 Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) I felt like it just sort of lost the heart and soul of Watership Down... this miniseries just kind of rang flat for me. Rated: C- Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Frank H. Wu Film Inquiry It might seem absurd, but this movie has emotional heft. The feelings are genuine, not saccharine. Jan 10, 2019 Full Review Emily Ashby Common Sense Media Compelling, dramatic, dark miniseries is very violent. Rated: 4/5 Jan 9, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
