Fed up.
igrenemakeup25 August 2018
I was enjoying this family film - then it ended - it wasn't Oscar winning performances granted, but ok to watch with the kids, thought the aliens were quite good, I've seen worse, but, it just ended. I'm getting really fed up with a lot of films not finishing properly.

Great potential but...
maverysmith1 September 2020
Started like an ok alien movie. I enjoyed the brothers' adventures and the sweetness of their bond. I love any alien movie and was getting into this one, then... The movie ended with no resolution to any of the plot threads. Disappointed at lost potential.

WTF!?
awsisme6 December 2018
This movie was what you'd expect, entertaining but a bit cheesy. Still, worth watching if you like SciFi. UNTIL THE END! What the heck was that? It just ended! Not a single plot line wrapped up. It is like the just ran out of money a half hour before the end and shipped it anyway. Ridiculous. You owe me money for the hour and a half of my life you just stole.

Started out pretty good.
dennisgannon56729 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Then it ended, resolved nothing and seemed more like a television series (this being the first episode) than a movie.

If this wasn't time wasted I don't know what is.

Nowhere does it indicate there will be a part 2 or a "to be continued".

How can anyone be satisfied with this as a film?

One star is way to high a rating for this... whatever it is!
stevepat9916 September 2018
This movie is a junior high school quality nothing burger. Of course, some reviews thought is was a series pilot since it suddenly just 'stops' as if aliens put their large hands over the projection lens. At least most horrible films make an attempt to offer ending closure. This film. at what should have been the two thirds mark, goes into cinematic cardiac arrest. Best guess, the money ran out from the junior high school parents who obviously funded the after school project.

Go out and watch the sky....
Australian125 August 2018
I would have been better to actually sit outside and watch the sky for the hour and a half I wasted on this movie! It was so slow with really useless detail that, for a minute, I thought it must be a pilot for a series! Basically it goes nowhere.

IF it was a pilot for a series, maybe, but the acting was below par, too much irrelevant details about each character and by the time they got to the point of the story, it ends without knowing what is going on.

No too bad
donna-5772313 April 2020
I was really getting into it after the boys woke up from there meeting with you know who, got in the old car/SUV and then were stopped and taken out of the vehicle. I could not believe that was the end. Should have been a second part. Bad ending.

Good Movie
ChrisLFinch1 September 2018
I found the Editing wasn't very good. The scenes were a bit too long and in some places, I think it would have been a bit better if there was a little more character development.

The Movie started of really slow and a bit boring and ones I started to get into and it was getting more intense and interesting it then randomly ends. Which I didn't like. I wanted to know what happens next. Like by the time it got to the point of the story, it ends without knowing what is going on. It just left me wanting more. I find It ignoring when a lot of Movies don't finish properly. When it finished I got the feeling that it was a TV show and not a Movie and it turns out that it is a Movie. By the way If it was a TV show I would of watched the 2nd episode.

The Movie talks about lost of a family member. The things I really liked were the special effects, and I liked the mystery part of the Movie. I think it was interesting. The acting was good and I think The music went well with all the scenes, I really liked the lighting and scenery. They were my favourite parts of the Movie.

I really wanted to like this film.
mslez27 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I'm a big fan or Renee O'Connor, the producer of this film, so I really tried to like it. For my two cents, her are my pros and cons:

Pros The lead, Miles Muir, did a very decent job. The cinematography was good at times. Some of the location work was beautiful. Renee O'Connor was very good as the step-mother, but there just wasn't enough of it. Most of the cast was pretty good. Jed Sura seemed natural in his part. The daughter, Emily's, acting was well done and her bits were funny and well-timed.

Cons: The dialogue, particularly for the lead actor, was awkward; particularly with all the technical monologues. The older brother, sorry I can't recall his name, was not very good except on occasion. Editing wasn't very good. The scenes were too long and in some spots, the story didn't hold together. The ending was so unclear that I don't know what to think. Really didn't like the ending.

Conclusion: Somewhat amateurish which is a shame because several of the cast and crew are highly experienced and accomplished professionals. I would lay most of the issues at the feet of the writer and director.

Worth The Long Wait
ausxip31 August 2018
After having watched this movie, here is my review of it.

What I liked:

I enjoy fiction (or movies) that have humor interspersed with the drama. You can't have a dark show without having some humor because it gives respite to the viewer (or reader). One of the funniest scenes/lines in this movie comes from an older couple who seem to have been together since the year dot. The old woman says in response to her husband questioning why she went to church: "I was praying for your soul...and the good lord to take it!" What happens after this is a mega spoiler, so I'm going to jump over talking about this couple.

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the nerdy Shawn played by Miles Muir. I'll be honest and say I wasn't expecting this performance. Miles made you care about his character. He was a nerdy kid who appeared to be a loner (not by choice). His life's ambition was about to become a reality and Miles made me want Shawn to succeed because it was central to why he was motivated to do what he did. There were so many layers to this young man. As far as acting is concerned, if the actor can make me fall in love or hate with his or her character, they have done their job. The whole purpose of telling a story is that it must resonate with you the viewer; there has to be something in the movie you see that touches you.

Watch The Sky does that, and I think the reason for this is Miles. His portrayal of Shawn was just spectacular at such a young age. Surprised at his acting ability and the ease in which he sold me on Shawn's journey. I can't wait to see what he does in the future because if he chooses to continue in the acting biz, this young man is going to impress.

What I didn't Like: It starts off very slow; it laid the foundation of the story, but it took a long time to get there. This isn't a movie that finishes telling its story by the end. Had I known that, I would have savored the build up. It may lose some viewers before it gets to the heart of the story because of the pace.

Conclusion: Should you watch this movie? ABSOLUTELY. I am going to predict that Miles Muir is going to have a lot of new fans because he is a talented young actor that, if given the right material, he will be someone to watch.

It has great characters that make you want to know more about them. For me, it all boils down to that. I want great characters in a movie or a book or theatre because that's what makes the show. You can slice and dice it with explosions and car chases, but at the end of the day, it's the characters that matter. On that score, it succeeded.

The pacing of the story needed to be quicker because I noticed it only started to rev up to about halfway through the movie. It has it's pacing flaws, but overall if you stick with it, you will find that there is a lot to like about Watch The Sky.

Are You Kidding Me!?
Hunter11141 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Warning: Possible Spoilers Ahead

First, let me say that I very much enjoyed the work of all the actors in this movie, which is why I'm giving it as many stars as I am. There was good chemistry and good performances all around. I liked the growing bond between the two brothers and I very much liked the scene between Shawn and his mother. It was all very natural, and I think young Mr. Muir has a bright future ahead of him. None of the cast has anything at all to be ashamed of; the writer(s), director and producer(s), however, need to have their Guild memberships suspended while they go back to school for some refresher courses for having pulled the rug out from under the viewers like they did.

I ran across this movie on streaming. The summary sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a try. I was getting into it, even if it did move a bit slowly, so I looked it up on IMDB for more info and noticed that it only had a 3.6 rating. I didn't read the reviews because I was in the middle of the movie, but I did see that the user ratings were very low. I didn't understand why. I thought the movie was fairly engaging. Late in the movie, I hit the pause button to go to the bathroom and noticed that there was only about twelve minutes left. Twelve minutes? How are they going to wrap all of this up in twelve minutes? Twelve minutes later, I found out that their idea of wrapping things up and my idea of wrapping things up were two completely different ideas. This movie, essentially, is two acts of a three-act play. There's a whole other act missing that resolves what happens to the brothers and the families and the townspeople and...the aliens.

Whoever wrote this thought that they were going to be very clever and artsy and go for a Serlingesque ending but without really understanding Serling. Serling would sometimes end his stories without completely resolving something, leaving a bit up to the imagination of the viewer, and I think that's what the writer of WTS was going for but did not achieve. Serling, an incredibly talented writer, would often have a twist and a surprise ending with a moral to it, which is quite different than leaving the story completely unresolved. I mean, would "Romeo and Juliet" have had the same power without the suicide scene? No. Would the movie version of Stephen King's "The Mist" had the same impact if the movie had ended when the group left the grocery store and completely dropped the heavy irony of the ending? No. Would "Watch The Sky" have had the same impact if it had ended with the brothers being dragged out of the truck and spirited away into the night? Oh...wait...that's where it did end. And that little follow up scene where their movie camera was found before rolling the credits resolved nothing and was completely unsatisfying.

You would think that someone, anyone, would point out that this ending to an otherwise enjoyable movie, was going to do nothing but infuriate people. You owe us the third act to this play. And if anyone wants to say that we, the audience, just don't understand, I say good luck in your next career. Thanks for your attention.

Wasted potential

No matter how good, without an ending or any attempt towards a conclusion renders the entire production meaningless.

Pretty much a waste of time.
cyberdadstl10 March 2020
The story was good at times, although not very consistent. The plot seemed to wander, but there were some good parts, too. Some of their attempts at humor seemed rather pointless. Not sure what the plot was as the movie just ended abruptly without any closure whatsoever. The movie held some promise but was completely unfulfilled. It's almost as if this were the pilot for a series that was never picked up. You should only watch this if you can see it for free and have absolutely nothing else to do.

WASTE OF TMIE
dark_horse-592-91227626 January 2023
Seriously, many student films are better. Really bad camerawork and direction. We fast forwarded to get to the ending, but should have kept going.

The premise was interesting enough, (teens science experiment inadvertently attracts the attention of the army and aliens) but low budget or not, the lackluster ending knocked any chance of two stars for this one.

I was willing to forgive what was probably one of the first acting jobs for most of the cast. But at least one of the camera operators needs to go back to film school. Really bad composition of some shots. Enough that it distracted this viewer. I'm surprised PRIME picked it up.

Don't waste your time

No closure ! This film, without an ending becomes pointless . Unlike most found footage films which fills in the gap from an event that has happened already, this movie leaves you blind. Totally forgettable .

Decent until the end!

The movie just stopped. No more storyline or any conclusions. Sorry guys, but this movie was a waste of time. Next time you make a B movie, give it an ending. Did you guys just run out of money? It crossed my mind. You ETs on the path we're convincing f not actually really good. The boys were great. The characters were believable. The plot was good. Can't you make an ending for your movie?

Crazy, battery basically dies and so does the film. I expected better from Renee O'Connor for having her name in the credits.

Where is the rest of the movie.

Warning: Spoilers
I love sci-fi movies and probably have watched hundreds of them, some good and some bad. This one was good until it turned bad. I have never seen a movie end so abruptly. Thought there was a part 2 but couldnt find it. Who the hell ends a movie with no wrap up at the end. It was like someone just turned off the movie or forgot to finish it. Did they indeed run out of money before they could finish it and resolve issues and just sent it out with no ending. Boy was that stupid!!! I was so disappointed, even though I knew how it would probably end. Bad bad writers, bad bad producers. The acting was ok considering it was a sci-fi movie. Sometimes the acting is really cheesy. But this was ok. Im just so angry they never finished the movie.

Who Hit The Off Switch?
jkutner-472035 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really liked the movie although I thought it was a series? After seeing the aliens and the military abducting the brothers, well it would have been a great way to start off a series. All the components for a really great alien series was there. It had humor, conspiracy, a little horror, some gore, some mystery, good special effects, but, hey, it's almost as if the whole show had a stroke at the end. Talk about leave you hanging.

Where are the brothers, where are the aliens, and are they friendly, who wound up with the recordings. Did they ever find the missing old man, what about the cattle and missing blood and stomach, and why were they mutilated? Did the kids who found the Video Camera ever take it to the cops?

It's as if someone assembled all the ingredients for a great meal and then just dropped it all on the floor without cooking it up for a great meal, just dropped the ball in the biggest way that I've ever seen! What I mean is you had all these great ingredients for a fairly good SCIFI movie for all ages, but they just threw it all away. There really wasn't any ending or lead in to another episode. They couldn't have run out of ideas, all the components for the next imaginary episode are there? Why not continue it instead of leaving everybody looking around and saying, WTF! That's all I could think of to say since it really didn't end, OR DID IT? You're left with so many questions, and you can imagine a host of scenarios for the non-existent next episode. I could have written the next installment myself!

Rated G would be perfect.
kwihui29 January 2022
A good benign movie for a middle school kids.

A babysitter's tool it should be.

Very amateurish filming and scripted dialogues.

It could be a better film, because it has much room to build upon.

It had promise, but....
resipsaloquiteractual15 April 2024
...that promise was unrealized. It 'felt" like a made-for-TV film, but the production quality wasn't too bad. The concept was interesting, but any promise it held was unrealized. To put a point on it, the ending was deeply unsatisfying. It's also not as though the film had elements which left an open-ending intact for the viewer to interpret what happened.

The premise was interesting, the production elements not bad, decent enough script...even the acting wasn't too bad. About two-thirds of the way through I started to sense the writer/director had lost the plot and didn't know where to go with this and they just slapped together an ending. Too bad.
