Welcome to the neighborhood: Meet WandaVision's major players

Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen)

The telekinetic sorceress has shifted from troubled antagonist in Avengers: Age of Ultron to galaxy-saving heroine in Avengers: Endgame. But Olsen says WandaVision will dive even deeper into Wanda Maximoff's psyche, exploring her evolution from Sokovia to suburbia.

"I already felt like I had ownership of her because Marvel always encourages you to be part of the process," Olsen says. "But even more so now, I feel I have a really strong sense of ownership. If anyone wanted to ask me a question about the future or just a question about what she would think, I feel like this time has provided that."

Vision (Paul Bettany)

Bettany's maroon android returns for WandaVision, even though he seemingly died in Avengers: Infinity War. The show will explore Vision's mysterious return — as well as the tender romance between Vision and Wanda.

"It's always so appealing when outsiders find each other," says head writer Jac Schaeffer. "They're both different with capital Ds. Wanda has so much pain, and Vision has so much curiosity."

Agnes (Kathryn Hahn)

No sitcom is complete without the nosy neighbor peering over fences or barging in without knocking, and Kathryn Hahn's Agnes — part Ethel from I Love Lucy, part Gladys from Bewitched — fills that role for Wanda and Vision. "[She's] the next-door neighbor that won't get off their couch at the end of the night," Hahn explains. "She's the one that's just going to be always in your business."

Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris)

Fans first met Monica as a young girl in the '90s-set Captain Marvel, and now, "Lieutenant Trouble" is all grown up. "[She has] a toughness and an ability to be a woman in a man's space," Schaeffer says. "Teyonah really brought that." In the comics, Monica becomes a hero in her own right, with the power to manipulate and absorb energy. Might we see her take flight in WandaVision?

"It's pretty epic, and it's been really exciting to be a part of it," Parris adds.

Darcy Lewis (Kat Dennings)

Darcy the intern returns! Kat Dennings' wise-cracking poli-sci student debuted in the Thor movies, as the assistant to Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. Where's she been for the last seven years? How does she cross paths with Wanda and Vision? And did she ever learn how to pronounce "Mjolnir" correctly?

Jimmy Woo (Randall Park)

Randall Park's FBI agent first popped up in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, as Scott Lang's parole officer. Schaeffer is tight-lipped about how Jimmy and Darcy fit into WandaVision, but she adds that the actors' previous TV experience (Park on Fresh Off the Boat, Dennings on 2 Broke Girls) makes for a delightfully meta twist. "It was particularly fun to bring two veteran sitcom performers into the mix," she says.
