WWE Backlash 2020: Date, Time, TV, And Live Stream Info

This article is more than 3 years old.

On Sunday from the WWE Performance Center, the next WWE PPV event takes place. It’s Backlash, and as of right now, it isn’t boasting a card packed with matches that has fans buzzing about the potential of the card.

Here is the viewing information.

  • Date: Sunday, June 16
  • Time: 6 pm ET for Pre-Show and 7 pm ET for PPV
  • TV: Local Cable Provider for PPV
  • Live Stream: WWE Network

The Card

The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever

  • Randy Orton vs. Edge

WWE Championship

  • Drew McIntyre (c) vs. Bobby Lashley

WWE Universal Championship (2-ON-1 Handicap Match)

  • Braun Strowman (c) vs. The Miz and John Morrison

WWE Raw Women’s Championship

  • Asuka (c) vs. Nia Jax

WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championship - Triple Threat

  • Sasha Banks and Bayley (c) vs. The IIconics vs. Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss

WWE US Championship

  • (c) Apollo Crews vs. Andrade
  • Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus

Notes on the Card

  • The build for Jeff Hardy vs. Sheamus has been bold and well written, but Hardy’s borderline dreadful mic work has created a bit of a disconnect. He’s as stiff when speaking as he has been loose in the ring as a worker during his prime, and that has kept this potentially strong program from being better.

Because this is an odd match based on their in-ring profiles, it’s hard to imagine this one tearing the roof off the PC.

  • Apollo Crews and Andrade have been in their current feud for what seems like a year. They are decent in the ring together, but this is dragging on too long. Hopefully, Crews goes over and both men move on.
  • Sasha and Bayley are the best champions for the WWE’s women’s division, so they should retain, and based on their opponents in the Triple Threat match–sans Alexa Bliss–there may not be enough in-ring quality for this Triple Threat battle to reach its potential.
  • I wish Nia Jax was better in the ring, and that she could participate in a match without injuring the person she works with in the process. Unfortunately, neither of those things are likely to change by Sunday, so let’s hope Asuka retains and escapes legit injury.
  • Handicap championship matches are rarely entertaining, and there is almost no reason to believe The Miz and John Morrison vs. Braun Strowman will be any different. Find me someone who is psyched for this match.
  • Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley has some potential. McIntyre has had some strong battles since winning the title at WrestleMania, and this match with Lashley, who has been looking his best of late, could be one of the best of the PPV.
  • Your work is cut out for you when the match is called the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever,” but Edge and Randy Orton certainly have what it takes to put on a show. I expect this match to have some cinematic qualities, and some other elements that appeal to wrestleheads. However, will it be better than the classic we saw on Thursday night when AJ Styles won the Intercontinental title against Daniel Bryan? Best believe the two matches will be compared on Monday morning.
