My family and I have just spent 2 nights at the WM Hotel in Sai Kung

The specifics:
- I booked a Superior room with king bed and was upgraded to a Deluxe with Balcony
- The architecture of the hotel is modern, it’s 3 buildings connected together and is located walking distance from the pier (to board a junk for the day) and shops
- The room itself had a large king sized bed, big bathroom with shower and a large separate bathtub and nespresso machine
- It had a balcony but sadly no furniture to sit on
- The room rate included buffet breakfast for 2 adults and you could book a breakfast time slot at check in
- We arrived at 4pm on a Friday and were checked in 30 minutes later
- The hairdryer that was provided had very little power so I suggest you pack your own from home

The pool
- The pool is certainly a highlight of the hotel as it’s a long infinity pool on the rooftop
- Pool slots could be booked by phone or by visiting the fitness centre
- The pool only has 17 deck chairs around the outside, no bathrooms on the pool level or F&B service. It’s not the sort of pool you’d relax next to for a long time
- There’s a lifeguard on duty but due to the shape of the pool they can’t see a lot and seemed to be more interested in their mobile phone

F&B
- The buffet breakfast was ok but it’s not full service like you’ll see at other 5 star hotels
- It had a canteen feel to it where you choose where you want to sit after walking in and help yourself to coffee from the machine etc
- There was a variety of options -
my kids enjoyed the noodle station and donuts on the pastry station
- The room service menu was short and when I phoned at 6pm they had already run out of the Hainanese chicken rice. I was advised the order would take 30 minutes and it took 1 hour to arrive

Comments
- The hotel is in a great location
- The pool is lovely and really is a highlight
- It’s very very difficult to get hold of anyone from the phone in the room. It took me 1 hour to get hold of anyone to request more bath towels, they just don’t answer the phone
- I had also tried to phone them to confirm my booking the day of arrival as I hadn’t received any other emails from them, but no one answered the phone
- As others have mentioned it’s not like other 5 star hotels, they could do so much more to give it more wow factor but they haven’t

Overall is good. I booked a twin room with balcony for 3 people, room is fine and clean, not spacious but enough for an extra bed. Staffs are helpful and nice. There are lot of seafood restaurants around, you can enjoy the coastal walk just outside the hotel.

Tips: it is not necessary to book the room with balcony, as they are all at the ground floor, next to the road, that’s why the balcony planted with some tall trees which is for keeping client’s privacy. I think no one would like to go out there. A standard room is enough if you don’t need any special arrangements.

The design of the hotel is modern, but the interior design is weird, and the quality of the renovation material is low.
The balcony in the room is big but empty, they can actually buy some cheap and cozy chairs from Taobao to make the balcony more descent.
And we booked sea view room at 1800 hkd , you can see the ocean view, but it’s a bit too close to the street.
The pool has a very good view, no drinking is such a waste, and if you wanna have a sip of your drink, be careful, coz the staff will treat you as criminal, the staff approached us and reminded us every time when we went to toilet.
“No drinking ok? I still see your friend had a sip of the drink.”
I understand the policy, but if she could have told us nicely, our experience would be much better.
however, I saw 3 western guests drank there but no one talk to them, consistency?!

And the hotel breakfast area is like a food court, the fried noodle and the chicken congee are amazingly taste terrible.

Overall stay experience was bad and disappointed. But I have to say, most of the staff are warm and friendly, especially the front desk, concierge and gym counter staff, but definitely not the lady working at the pool, she really ruined my pool experience.

Hotel definitely isn’t a five star hotel as advertised. Hotel is new and modern but needs a lot of improvement and changes to even be considered a four star hotel. Service is just terrible.

First of all, it is very hard to call both room service and maid service for your needs- just call the concierge and ask what you need. It took us more than 30 minutes calling the operator, maid service, room service, front desk, duty manager and realised that no one would ever answer their lines.

Second, food is poor to below average. Quality of their breakfast buffet in their cafe is poor and room service is below average after being able to be connected and transferred to their room service.

Third, staff aren’t well trained to handle basic needs of their hotel. They aren’t synchronised on who should handle needs of their hotel guests.

Fourth, air-condition of our room wasn’t working the whole of the first day. They initially said that there’s a schedule when your set temperature of your room would kick in at a certain time but still didn’t get cooler after spending the whole day out of the hotel. Someone had to come in late at night and offered a contractor to check on the air conditioning unit or a change of room late at night.

Fifth, you cannot even order extra cans of beers from their room service. You can just take the drinks that are inside their refrigerator. We ordered iced coffee from the waitress at WM cafe and she said they don’t have it, nor do they have iced tea. The manager came and said they have it. Staff definitely need more training and basic knowledge of what they have to offer.

Sixth, we stayed in their deluxe room with balcony. Balcony should have at least an outdoor table with chairs to make it comfortable for their hotel guests and not have to bring out their furniture inside the room.

Sadly, this is the only new and modern hotel in sai kung. People are stuck and forced to book with this hotel if they want to stay in sai kung for the weekend.

A modern design and clean-cut architecture of the hotel. Rooms with high ceiling, full-length balcony glass door and streamlined design give guests a sense of space and relaxation. Of course, the amazing seaview is fantastic. From what I see from the website photos and hotel exterior, the rooms on the rooftop are very nice too should try for next visit.

The room I stayed in was wonderful everything in good shape after 8 months’ operation. Everything looked great and a comfort super King size bed let you have a sound sleep at night. The staff’s service attitude exceeded my expectation. Noted some negative feedback or shortfall during the opening period. Guess hotel address the issue already. They were extremely friendly and said Hi to us sincerely. They also offered help proactively. Starting from arrival, Concierge - Thomas & Roy assisted in loading luggage from my car at forecourt and explained in detail how to go to the carpark for overnight parking. During our stay, also explain to us about the hotel shuttle service to Hang Hau Station. When we passed by WM café, Stephanie explained the dining options and showed us the menu with a great smile. My wife stopped by the fitness center and the staff there also introduced the facilities, opening hours to her and told her that our son could be admitted if he’s accompanied by an adult. We met housekeeping and other staff on the ground floor, corridor and lobby areas. They all greeted us with smile.

A great modern design hotel with resort feel. No doubt to recommend to other. Number of our friends found our photos in social medias keen to ask and show interest to stay.

Room tip: Recommend to book Seaview Balcony or Rooftop Room
