Salve! Visiting Campania starting tomorrow, chill no pressure type of tourism, how is this plan?

Tourism & Travel Questions

Thank you all in advance for your advice, extra note to consider:

It's me and my GF, we mainly like.. amazing simple food, we can hike and walk no problem

Here is a very simple and broad plan, I don't want to over prepare everything to be able to stay flexible:

Transport for 27,28,29 with Artecard

Hotel at Pompei

27 (Bad weather)

Arrival in the afternoon

Archaeological National Museum (Artecard)

Food food

>to hotel

28

Pompei (Artecard)

then Bus to Vesuvius

>back to hotel

29

Sorrento

+ (if half day is enough) Naples (Vomero district Funicular)

>back to hotel

30

Train to new hotel (Salerno)

City visit (Rione Fornelle, Promenade)

>back to hotel

31

Almafi Coast by boat from Salerno

+ Path of the gods hike

>back to hotel

01 April

Paestum by train

OR

Extra day Naples

>back to hotel

02

Naples morning + Airport

Also, how is the 1st April like in terms of what's open?

No pressure? Chill? My dude. We need to chat. Lol Respectfully. 🤣

This reads like the opposite of that. You must like trains.

Why does everyone think Pompeii and Vesuvius are a good idea in the same day? I mean, could you? Yes. Should you? Why? But it's the only thing that makes sense paired together in your entire itinerary, so I'll let it go. Lol

Why would you ride in train for over an hour from Sorrento to Naples to visit Vomero on the funicolare? Do it when you land. Stay in Sorrento for the day. Not to mention it's in the opposite direction from Pompeii and Sorrento.

Did you look at a map at all when you planned this? Salerno is further out still, and you're backtracking for the path of the gods by... An hour and a half(ish)? It's been awhile since I was there, so I can't remember exactly.

Naples has plenty to keep someone busy for weeks, and you're dipping in and out like you'll get burned or you'll catch something if you stay too long. Nothing about the historical center, Spaccanapoli, the Veiled Christ, Naples Sotterraneo, the Palace, Spanish Quarter, etc etc etc.

I mean, you've already planned this starting tomorrow, so in bocca al lupo. We could've helped with some advance warning.

Hey!

Thanks for the suggestions :)

I added the Vesuvius in case for the same day but realistically I was already not thinking of doing it (would device there and then)

For Sorrento day it was optional regarding visiting Naples, since I was not sure if a full day in Sorrento makes sense, but it probably will :)

And yes I looked at the map :D, I am backtracking because we will mainly be using trains indeed, and Salerno is a better homebase to go to Almafi compared to Pompei if using trains

Anyway thanks again!

Why not use Naples as your home base? There's much more going on there than in Pompeii.

I liked the flexibility of being near Naples and Sorrento, and also.. hotel prices were a factor, I can't change that now, but I think it's ok, I'm from Europe anyway so any mistakes I will learn for the next time!
