'Dodgeball 2' Is Coming! What to Know About Vince Vaughn's 'Dodgeball' Sequel
Get ready to grab life by the ball again, because a Dodgeball sequel is coming.
A second installment to the hit 2004 comedy was announced in April 2023 with Vince Vaughn reprising his role of Average Joe's Joe LaFleur.
Jordan VanDina, writer of The Binge, will pen the Dodgeball 2 script, and no director is yet attached. Rawson Marshall Thurber wrote and directed the original Dodgeball, and when asked about a potential sequel in 2021, didn't rule out the idea.
“You know what—never say never. I never thought about Dodgeball as a series, but that actually might be fun,” Thurber told Deadline at the time. “I’m really proud of Dodgeball — it’s my first film and something people still really like it seems. I would say never say never, and it would have to be the right take on it. But yeah, maybe.”

Vince Vaughn is set to return as Joe LaFleur, owner of Average Joe's gym, in Dodgeball 2. Deadline reports that he will likely also be a producer on the sequel.
That said, there are plenty of other stars on the original Dodgeball call sheet who can be mined to appear (especially thanks to the myriad celebrity cameos), including William Shatner, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Missi Pyle, Stephen Root, Jason Bateman, Alan Tudyk, Hank Azaria, Gary Cole, Jamal Duff, Hayley C. Rosales, Chris Williams, Lori Beth Denberg, Curtis Armstrong, David Hasselhoff, Chuck Norris and more.
Not returning, sadly, will be Rip Torn as Patches O'Houlihan, as the legendary actor died in July 2019.
