Motley Crue’s Vince Neil received a standing ovation when he made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Tuesday (Aug. 2). Neil reacted to the monumental honor, saying, it was “pretty exciting.”

“[Making my Opry debut] is pretty exciting,” Neil shared in a video posted to the Opry’s Instagram account ahead of the performance. “I’m afraid,” the singer admitted, adding, “This place will give you the shakes.”

During his Tuesday night debut, Neil performed the heavy metal band’s 1985 song, “Home Sweet Home” and their 1989 song, “Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away).”

“I want to thank you all for coming out,” Neil addressed the crowd as he took the stage before his performance. “This is a really chilling place to be, standing up here,” he said.

Neil put a bit of a different spin on the band’s song, “Home Sweet Home” and turned it into a ballad. He was backed up by a piano and shared vocals with singer Cherish Lee, daughter of country singer Johnny Lee and actress/singer Charlene Tilton.

“We continued our long-standing tradition of having guest appearances on the Opry stage during the Tuesday Night Opry,” the Opry wrote on its Instagram page following Neil’s debut. “@thevinceneil made his Grand Ole Opry debut, and the audience concluded his performance with a standing ovation!,” they shared, adding a 👏 emoji.

“Tonight I play at the Grand Ol [sic] Opry!! Crazy!!” Neil wrote on Twitter ahead of his Tuesday performance. Later, he posted a photo of himself and Lee from their performance of “Home Sweet Home.” Neil can be seen standing on the famous Opry circle, staring into the crowd.

“OMG we are here live @opry!! Thank you, @thecherishlee, for joining us!!,” he tweeted.

Neil is currently on the road performing on Motley Crue’s 2022 Stadium Tour. The tour runs through Sept. 9, wrapping in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium, and features support from Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.

Neil and his bandmates just concluded the first leg of their tour in Denver before heading into back-to-back shows at Fenway Park this weekend on Aug. 5 and 6.

“Fenway Park – last night was awesome‼️ Are you ready for night 2?!,” Neil said sharing a few shots of himself on stage during the first night of the two back-to-back Boston shows.
