Wildcats Bested by No. 11 Georgetown

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova concluded the regular season with a 12-4 loss to No. 11 Georgetown on Friday night. The Wildcats will be the No. 4 seed in next week's BIG EAST Tournament.

Matt Licata scored the game's first goal with an unassisted strike to give Villanova (8-6, 2-3) its only lead of the night. After Georgetown scored two unanswered Sam Parkinson found Colin Michener for a transition equalizer midway through the first quarter. The Hoyas would answer with five unassisted goals to build the lead to five and two more after Licata scored his second goal of the night. The Wildcats trailed 9-3 at the half.

A quiet third quarter saw Georgetown break the ice with just under three minutes remaining. In the final seconds of the third quarter The Hoyas forced a turnover and went the length of the field in seconds as Graham Bundy Jr, scored with .4 seconds on the clock. Will Wheeler scored in what was his first career start to give the Wildcats their lone goal of the second half.

Stephen Zupicich was the star of the night for the 'Cats causing five turnovers to go along with five ground balls. Anthony Wilson made nine saves in the loss.
Georgetown (10-3, 4-1) was led by Bundy with four goals and TJ Haley had five assists. Anderson Moore had seven saves in the win.
