[Spoilers] Vikings: Valhalla - Season 2 Official Episode Discussion Hub

[spoilers] fav moments from the series [spoilers] fav moments from the series
Spoilers

Finished the original series and absolutely loved it. Of course like most people, I enjoyed the series most through season 4 with Ragnar but Ivar and Bjorn’s story arcs were still worth following. What were your favorite moments from the original series?

My top 3 would probably be:

3. Ragnar faking his death to gain entry to the kingdom

2. Ivar actually having the opportunity to show compassion for the young Rus prince

  1. And my favorite scene of the whole thing being when Ragnar meets Athelstan’s son; this scene was just beautifully done between the emotion and the actor they chose for prince Alfred and the background music.

I’m now having withdrawals and have watched the first few eps. of Valhalla and though I probably won’t enjoy it as much (theme song is weak af compared to the OG) it’s better than no Vikings.

[spoilers] The final ruler of Kattegat. [spoilers] The final ruler of Kattegat.

I love this show. I absolutely adore this show and its wide variety of characters and personalities. The fact it was started with an ambitious farmer and made sense every single step of the way. Fantastic

Having just watched it for the 2nd time for the first time in about 4 years and my god. WTAF is the ending.

I love the last moment is Floki and Ubbe watching the sunset. It’s a full circle moment. The man who built the boat for the father that started this whole adventure is sitting with the son who is most like his father, declaring his love for him and Floki telling him Ragner still visits him asking him to build him a new boat. Great, a lot of people don’t like it but I do.

But when it comes to Ingrid being Queen at the end. Horrible. I think I can safely say no one cared but the story of her and Erik being left in Kattegat and their “power struggle”. We didn’t care about these characters, they were both highly unlikeable and not interesting at all.

I’ve no idea why the creators ended it with that.

Am I wrong ? Did anyone actually enjoy her sitting on the throne that has been such an enormous factor in this entire story ? She earned absolutely nothing in my eyes

I only saw the first season when it premiered, and I thought it was decent at best, not great.

I tried to watch the second season last night, but I turned it off after 20 minutes. Honestly, I don't even remember what's going on in the second season, and I barely remember any characters besides the three leads. Even then, I'm having a hard time caring about these 3 leads.

Almost all episodes are under 50 minutes, and the third season will be the last, which sounds fine to me. However, I'm curious about your personal thoughts on the second season. Is it good, should I keep watching it?

[No Spoilers] King Ecbert and his burdens [No Spoilers] King Ecbert and his burdens

Recently watched Vikings episode that includes the dialogue between young Alfred and his grandfather. Actually the scene is great! There's just one phrase that I can't get. Ecbert goes "it's like forever dragging a stone up a hill only to watch it perpetually roll back down again". Seems like he wasn't really talking to the boy at that moment. He talked to himself. And I don't understand why he is comparing king's burdens with absurdism, with a myth about a man who was condemned to do useless things and become perpetually frustrated

[Spoilers] Just finished series. My opinion. [Spoilers] Just finished series. My opinion.

Was disappointed after season 4 ish. But after seeing how it ended. I came to this conclusion and was somewhat pleased after being disappointed. All Ragnars sons were all a piece of him in a way and it showed. Ubbe: was like him in the way that he was constantly trying to find new lands and wanted his people to flourish in them.

Ivar: Was the ruthless Viking side of Ragnar.

Bjorn: Was Ubbe, Ivar and more. A continuation of Ragnar imo. Protector of his people when needed, viking at heart wanting to explore. Never wanted to be king...

Hvitserk: Was the lost version of Ragnar.

Sigurd: Was the killed to early version of Ragnar.

[spoilers] Why is Freydis being a gudija such a big deal? [spoilers] Why is Freydis being a gudija such a big deal?
Discussion

Watching Vikings Valhalla for the first time and I realized something that doesn’t make any sense. It is portrayed as a big deal for Freydis to become a priestess like it’s a huge decision for her and a huge decision for Jomsburg. However, in Vikings we know Torvi is a priestess and see her a few religious ceremonies. In Vikings though it’s not as big of a deal like it just kind of happens, am I missing something?

Authenticity of forgiveness in the show [spoilers] Authenticity of forgiveness in the show [spoilers]

So one thing that offsetted me in the show and it felt a bit tiresome later on tbh, is how one character betrayed the other, caused war and the deaths of many, and then casually made friends again and then betrayed again and then made friends all over again only to plan another betrayal a few episodes later. I really wonder, is any of this at all plausible/authentic?

[Spoilers] Lets just talk about it! [Spoilers] Lets just talk about it!

I have just finished it for the 3rd time, and I really have to say, this is an amazing 10/10 show. I just wanted to hear some of y'alls thoughts on how it ended and how you felt, what you thought about it. The entire storyline of Ragnar Lothbrok is phenomenal. In life and death he left an incredibly large mark in every person's life. The end for Bjorn, Lagertha, and Ivar were so emotional for me cause they all lived and died by the blade as they hoped. Though Lagertha was not necessarily in battle, she got to live a full life, put on her armor one last time and died in a way she knew she would. Ivar will be remembered for centuries just due to his sheer influential power! I mean going from a cripple crawling in the mud to standing as tall as his brothers and taking on raid after raid. He died where he wanted and died for what we wanted. Then our sweet, charismatic Bjorn. What a King. The True King of Norway. Need I say more? At the end of the day, perfect show. The love, the revenge, the influence, the power! It all matches so well, and each actor portrays their character so FREAKING WELL! Makes me want to rewatch for a 4th but that'd be insane. Or would it????? Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Feel free to talk your hearts out, I love this show I can talk about it all day.

Hvitserk evil or neutral?[Spoilers] Hvitserk evil or neutral?[Spoilers]
Spoilers

on the one hand we have the sweet Hvitserk who loves Tora and Margreth, on the other a Viking who during raids kills and rapes without the slightest scruple, and disturbing because he always has a "good boy" smile while he does these things I remember he was excited as hell in raping Muslim girls, but it wasn't the typical Sadistic smile that rollo/ivar have but as always a childish smile as if he didn't see anything brutal in doing it Thoughts
