Victoria Racimo Obituary

December 26, 1943 - November 29, 2020 Victoria Raquel Racimo, passed away on November 29th in Williamsburg, VA. Her life had been an expression of bountiful talent demonstrated in a career as an actor, director, writer, and producer. Born to show business parents, she grew up behind and on the stage, landing her first major role on Broadway in Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Flower Drum Song". Schooled as a classical pianist at Juilliard, she traveled to the Soviet Union with select musicians to showcase gifted American youth. She later attended Columbia University before moving to Los Angeles in her early 20s.In Hollywood from the late '60s through the '90s, Racimo's Filipino-Irish beauty and talent drew acting offers alongside Charleston Heston ("Mountain Men"), Don Johnson ("The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart"), and George C. Scott ("Day of the Dolphin"), among many. She is often remembered for her performance in "Prophecy," John Frankenheimer's horror Sci-Fi film with Talia Shire and "Ernest Goes to Camp" with Jim Varney.Racimo's real love was writing, directing, and producing. She created two animation specials, was Executive Producer of the HBO film "Casi Casi", and co-wrote "Blue Moon," a children's book and interactive app based on a story by singer Alicia Keys. Commissioned by the State of Virginia, Victoria wrote and directed the original drama "Journey of Destiny" in celebration of America's 400th Anniversary at Jamestown. A passionate supporter of equine welfare and rescue, she wrote and directed the documentary, "One Day", about Our Mims Retirement Haven in Kentucky. Victoria won Best Director in the Equus Film Festival in NYC. In 2017, she co-wrote "All the King's Horses" (Regnery), which describes Elvis Presley's little-known equestrian life.Victoria spent a lifetime originating, nurturing, and supporting creative work. Her infectious humor, incisive intelligence, and deep commitment to people and ideas, engendered mutual respect within her profession and abiding love among her many, many friends. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, she directed Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and cast me as Albert Einstein in this play about Einstein and Picasso meeting in a bar in 1905., Later, after losing her stage manager she told me if anything went wrong on stage if any other actor flubs a line, I want you to cover for them. " You know all the character's lines in the play", she would say. That was high praise coming from the likes of her. I know, although she came from New York, she always considered Williamsburg, Va. home. She was a lovely lady that will surely be missed. What a talent she had for assembling people for the plays and keeping things coordinated to keep productions running smoothly.

I knew her in the 70s. She was stunning in beauty and character. Over the last 50 years I have thought of her often. She will be missed. The world is a sadder place without her.

I worked with Vicky on several of her musical productions in Williamsburg, VA. She always challenged my musical abilities and it was always an honor to be the piano player for her. She will be missed.

Watching Black Sheep Squadron on TV just now, and Victoria played one of the guest stars. I checked her IMDB page to see when this was and found out she had passed in November. I worked with her a few times (me, the peon; her, the director) and she was so kind and real with me. She taught me a lot. She's the first director I worked with (I was back stage). I'll never forget her.

When I met VIctoria at the VA State fair, she was bigger than life, spent the day with my mustangs and even taught Cloud's daughter Rain how to drink from a Dansani water bottle. When she visited all my other mustangs at my farm, the glorious smile and sparkling eyes are what I remember most. Marching with her at a rally in DC brings special memories. You will be missed my friend

SO sorry to hear of Victoria's passing. She worked with my Dad, Larry Leung years ago in Flower Drum Song and has been a great advocate and supporter of Asian Americans in the theater and in the industry. Her spirit was enormous and will be missed by whomever she touched and wherever she went.

I met Victoria in person only once, (we stayed in touch through Facebook after that), and before I became aware of her stellar career, I knew her as a caring, supportive soul who encouraged me to keep writing my horse blog, now defunct. For all her accomplishments in life, she did not brag or make an unaccomplished person feel anything other than respected. I am sorry to have lost touch with Victoria recently, and am so saddened by news of her passing. I like to imagine she has met up with Jeanne Mirabito on the other side of the rainbow bridge, and that they are talking about horses. RIP Victoria. You were a great lady.

She was a beautiful and talented friend. Her creativity was a joy to behold. Her passion for the theater was intense and perfectionist. She saw the world in her own special way. Her love of horses and dogs was beautiful to behold. Her sense of humor and fun will certainly be missed.
