The best parts of my experience at the school would be being involved, especially with being in student council I built a lot of connections with teachers and staff and we’ve created such a friendly circle but outside of that circle theres a lot of things that id consider the worst part of my high school experience there. There are teachers that are very rude and disrespectful and many students and even teachers have complained but they dont seem to get fired. One thing that should change is when people especially students speak out about how their teachers behave rudely it should be fixed!
My experience in Valley High School was a roller coaster with having to endure being lockdown for my freshman year to not being able to finish eighth grade. I would say that valley did help with my academics. There was doors open so dual enrollment and AP was an experience of taking college classes and if you pass not having to take them in college for free. So that was helpful for me and everyone who is taking advantage of this opportunity. My bad experiences is being able to cope in this school. As in blend in this school is big enough with hundreds and hundreds of students with different races and as being a Hispanic women it felt like I’m outsider. Changes I could possibly see is that we should more involve im helping the community, the students in this school.
I believe that Valley High School is not entirely bad if you decide to enroll yourself in one of their magnet programs. I graduated in May 2023 as a Valley International Baccalaureate (IB) Alumni, and being in the IB program at Valley truly changed my entire experience. The quality of teachers and education was significantly different from what you would see in classes that were not connected to some sort of magnet program. In addition to this, the IB students at our school were rarely involved in fights, suspensions, or other issues around campus. While fights were prevalent at Valley and the circumstances were not always very safe, I do think that being in IB did a good job of shielding students from getting involved in anything that would be detrimental to their success. Since I had friends in the Dual Credit Program as well as the other magnet programs at Valley, I can say that these programs did a decent job of doing this as well. Overall, its manageable if you're smart about it.
