加6首歌，音效很優，我一開始聽就覺得錄音很好(有daniel lanois,助陣，但不是製作人), 隔天放neil young archive專輯toast時，以為喇叭高音單體壞了。換這張確認發覺差異太大了。(也可能是neil young錄太差，但在汽車上聽沒有這種感受)。
這張有cohen 中後期的味道，有幾首歌一度錯認是翻唱cohen歌曲，其實是faithful用cohen的樣子唱自創曲。
專輯雖然有相當多優點，我不得不只給3星半。vocal是她就難以忽視的敗筆，老嫗faithful和老翁cohen有先天男女音域差異的劣勢。年輕時還可以玩美聲搞清純，老了沒力，高音上不了，也會筆叉，只好唱低音，又不如男音沉得下去而有味道。這張在中高音時真的不行如巫婆。faithful似乎也了解自己，儘量低頻發音，味道就不如男音了。

One of the hallmarks of mariannes late period revival is her unerringly perfect choice of collaborators and her skill in interpreting others material.
After a pair of kurt weill inspired cabaret albums marianne enlists top producer daniel lanois as producer for "vagabond ways" and continued that good run.
Their collaboration went quite well, the opening 3 songs being stunningly disturbing songs concerning the damages of excess. Lanois's spacious,smooth production working brilliantly on the version of "tower of song" and the closing atmospheric spoken word piece.
It sags a little in the middle but by the beautiful "great expectations" marianne is once again in full control. "vagabond ways" is certainly downbeat but it's moody reflections on damaged life are welcome ones.

Somehow Marianne's voice continues to improve with age, to the point where her heartbroken climbs on "For Wanting You" seem scarcely possible for a woman her age.

Faithfull adds another chapter to her 'seventies-onward confessional with the help of some sonic washes from Daniel Lanois - who has been voted "Most Likely to Beef Up the Sound of Your Favourite Aging Rockstar" most every year since the late 'eighties, only losing the title for a coupla years to Bruce Fairbairn (r.i.p.) in the middle/late 'nineties. If you liked the stuff that Faithfull did with Badalamenti, you'll likely find something worthwhile here. The days of Broken English are, at this point, as far behind her as the era when she sang "As Tears Go By" and slept on Mick's furry bedspread.
