What little music that is on there is great, but as far as the CD is concerned it is Incomplete, Very Incomplete. Kyser released more songs on V-disc than this, including In Old Monterey, the flipside of Slow Boat to China. Being that Columbia has never reissued that tune in any way, shape or form, it would have fit in nicely on this disc. Also, Don't Believe Everything You Dream, the girl vocalist is Georgia Carroll, NOT Ginny Simms. That's what it says on the record label. Ginny was no longer part of the band when this tune was recorded in 1944, and Georgia Carroll later became Mrs. Kay Kyser. Other tunes like Candlelight and Wine, Do it Again, and With My Head In the Clouds are also not on this disc. They Just Chopped Down the Old Apple Tree is off pitch, and sounds speeded up. The Army did that deliberately so they can squeeze two songs on one side of those 12" V-Discs. That is also the reason why the tunes were only two minutes or less. Guess the producers at Collector's Choice were too stinking ignorant to know that. I can tell that it's off pitch without hearing the original record. Epic fail...

The reason this only got 4 stars and not 5 is its pretty skimpy with only 12 tracks (some clock in at 1:56). But you'll never hear Kay swing as hard as "Always" and "Bye Bye Blues" ! As you might know Kay Kyser wasn't known for his swinging sounds so its nice to hear them let out with a few bars at the start of this CD. Also Ginny Sims sings "Don't Believe Everything You Dream" and you'll know why soliders everywhere sighed, what a creamy voice. And thankfully no nonsense from "Ishkabibble" anywhere to be found. Overall a real nice CD for all those millions (thousands?) of Kay Kyser fans.
