Urban Meyer makes definitive statement on return to college football coaching

Urban Meyer delivered a strong statement regarding whether or not he would ever be returning to the college football coaching ranks. 

When Urban Meyer was last seen coaching football in any capacity, he was run out of town for leading a franchise/team to its lowest point. The folks in Jacksonville can attest to it.

Back in a comfortable stage at the broadcast booth, Meyer was asked about his thoughts on potentially returning to the sidelines. His response was plain and simple.

"“No desire,” Meyer said on the All Things Covered with Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden podcast. “Of course, I think [I] could do things differently.”"

Well, he has been known to stray away from the truth in the past; see the Ohio State incident with former receiver coach Zach Smith. That said, it does sound like Meyer is serious, given how everything went down.

Urban Meyer firmly stated that he has no desire to return to coaching football

There’s no denying that wherever Urban Meyer went in the college ranks, success followed. The resumes at Florida and Ohio State speak for themselves, highlighted by three national championships, one being the inaugural title of the College Football Playoff.

However, none of his tenures in Gainesville and Columbus came without controversy, which brings questions every time Meyer’s name is brought up. It didn’t cease to exist when Meyer headed to the NFL and flamed out after not even a full season. We don’t need to bring all of those details up.

Nonetheless, Meyer said he’s staying away, and he wants to remain in the broadcast booth. That’s fine. No issues in that position, and so far, everything is smooth sailing and clean. Whether or not he trades in the microphone for a whistle in the future remains to be seen, but for now, Meyer will stick to a suit and tie instead of coaching gear.
