Product Description
In the highly anticipated follow to 2001's debut album "Apples For Eve", Katrina continues to prove herself as an emerging talent with "Untucked". With Katrina's usual combination of thoughtful lyrics, beautiful melodies, and danceable rhythms, each song on the album is a gem. Featured are the new duet version of "I Know You By Heart," with guest artist Benny Mardones, "Blue Streak Cadillac" as heard on Dawson's Creek, and "Mother".
Review
The lyrics will grip the heart of anyone who has ever given themselves completely in love. -- Delilah, Jones Radio Network
This duet is incredible! Katrina and Benny sound amazing together! What a great summer song! -- Chachi, Operations Manager KBIG/KOST
When I played the duet, our phones were ringing before it ended. Three days later we were still getting calls. -- Mary Reilly, KKLT FM, Phoenix, AZ
About the Artist
Katrina Carlson graduated with honors from Brown University with a degree in International Relations, Foreign Policy and Diplomacy with a focus on nuclear arms control. Naturally, she is a singer-songwriter.
Singing always played a big part in Katrina's life and provided a way for her to distinguish herself from her ten older siblings. She began playing the piano at age eight and the guitar at age twelve. She continued on her musical path through school and was trained classically at the Manhattan School of Music and the Brooklyn College Opera program.
Her early performance experience ranged from the Aspen Music Festival to the off-Broadway Cole Porter review, You Never Know. Her range in music is vast, singing opera arias to big band tunes. Her career has taken her from the desert landscape she called home in Paradise Valley, Arizona, to New York City and finally, to Los Angeles, where she now resides in the oceanside city of Santa Monica.
On the left coast, Katrina acted in both film and television while she continued her singing and songwriting. She co-starred opposite Sean Young and Penny Marshall in the feature film Special Delivery, which also featured Nell Carter, and played a bad girl criminal on America's Most Wanted among other roles. For any of you trekkies out there, Katrina played a co-starring role in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as the Bajoran officer in the trilogy "The Siege".
Nevertheless, she was always loyal to her musical roots. Katrina has sung for the likes of Barbra Streisand, Warren Beatty, Gregory Peck, Annette Bening, Oliver Stone and Shirley MacLaine to name a few. After placing two songs in the film Special Delivery, Katrina was inspired to produce a full-length album. The songs on Apples for Eve were both written by her alone and co-written with her Emmy Award-winning producer, Ron Cohen.
Katrina released her debut CD of original songs, Apples for Eve, in conjunction with the premiere of the feature film Go Tigers! at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001. Three of her songs from the CD are included in the film. Katrina's tour in support of Apples for Eve began at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City in January of 2001 and also included datesthroughout Ohio, at New York City's infamous CBGB's and in and around Southern California. A special treat was sharing the stage with Joan Jett during the NFL's Hall Of Fame festivities in Canton, OH.

On first listen on RDIO I came here to check the price and found this CD selling for $4 shipped. A no brainer and I bought it immediately. Just because this came out in 2003 is no reason not to bite. It has a lot of variety in the tracks and enough great melodies and flourishes to ensure your ears will perk up as these come up in your mix. I prefer to listen to the full CD all the way through, myself, but you can easily pick and choose for your playlists as well.
She has a great band backing her on this, too. "Count On Me" was the track that caught my ear, but they're all pretty good. Here is a bit more info about this CD that I found on Wiki: "Carlson's second album, Untucked, was released in May 2003. David Darling, best known as a member of the Boxing Gandhis and for his work with Meredith Brooks and Brian Setzer, produced the album. Special guests on the disc included Goo Goo Doll drummer Mike Malinin, Oingo Boingo bassist John Avila, hit singer-songwriter Benny Mardones and drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, Guns N' Roses)."
Ms. Carlson has performed in musicals and plays and even had a role on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" as a Bajoran Officer - how cool is that? I look forward to enjoying a lot more of her music and other work as I can.
An easy 5 stars from me for this CD.
Katrina Carlson's voice is inspiring and I can tell you that I really enjoyed listening to "Untucked" many times. It took me away as I was mesmerized by her voice which made it so great to listen as I snuck into my own trance to the music. Adding a bit of jump to her songs that kept the flavor of the music upbeat and kind of funky. This blend worked very well and kept me spinning the CD numerous times on the player. Katrina Carlson possesses you on "Untucked" immediately and I did not have to grow to listen to the music as many new works that come out. A little bit of rock always goes a long way with a song like "Dive" which got me bopping my head back and forth hearing about "dive bombing babies", opening me up for a small laugh at the same time. "Closer (freak)" and "Somewhere Over You" showed an energy to her music which I tend to enjoy. Creating a type of personal relationship with Katrina and myself on "Untucked". Katrina's blend of upbeat and softer music previews a diversity that she has towards her writing and music.
