KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee women's basketball head coach Kim Caldwell announced Wednesday that she has received an SEC Grant-in-Aid (GIA) and Institutional Financial Aid Agreement (IFAA) from transfer Alyssa Latham.

The 6-foot-2 forward, an ACC All-Freshman Team honoree in 2023-24 while at Syracuse University, is a native of Glenwood, Ill., and a product of Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School. Latham will be a sophomore during the 2024-25 campaign and is the initial player to sign with UT under the leadership of first-year head coach Kim Caldwell.

"What a great opportunity it is to welcome an ACC All-Freshman Team member and one of the top first-year players in the country," Caldwell said. "She has a very bright future ahead of her, and we're excited she has three years where we can work with and develop her. I look forward to seeing how much her game grows."

Appearing in 32 games, Latham started 26 of them for Syracuse as a freshman in helping her former team to a 24-8 overall record, 13-5 mark in the ACC (t2nd) and an NCAA Second Round finish. She averaged 8.6 points per game and 7.0 rebounds to rank fourth and first on the team, respectively, in those statistical categories and shot 46 percent from the field on the season.

Latham scored in double figures 13 times during the 2023-24 campaign, pulling down 10 or more rebounds on nine occasions and finishing with a team-leading six double-doubles. Two of those double-doubles came in the first two contests of her collegiate career, as she tallied 15/10 and 11/11 points-rebounds efforts, respectively vs. Lafayette and Central Connecticut State.

The rookie's season highs in scoring, rebounding and minutes played came vs. Alabama, when she fired in 23 points on 9-of-10 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds in 40 minutes of court time vs. the Crimson Tide on Nov. 30. She later tied her best on the boards with 12 vs. Notre Dame in the ACC opener on Dec. 31, also adding 21 points over 32 minutes vs. the Irish.

In Syracuse's NCAA Tournament contests, Latham started in both and logged 35 minutes vs. Arizona and 33 vs. UConn. She produced 10 points, five rebounds, two steals and an assist vs. the Wildcats and contributed six points, six rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist vs. the Huskies.

A four-star prospect in high school and the nation's No. 72 recruit in the 2023 espnW 100, Latham led Homewood-Flossmoor to a 69-24 record during her time there. As a senior, she put up 19 ppg. and 12 rpg. and was selected as the 2022-23 Chicago Tribune Daily Southtown Girls Player of the Year as well as earning IBCA All-State First Team accolades and an invitation to the Who's NXT All-American Game.

Additionally, she earned IBCA All-State First Team acclaim in 2021 and second-team honors in 2022 during a junior season that saw her average another double-double of 19.4 points and 10.2 rebounds. She was named 2022 Max Preps Illinois Player of the Year as well as USA Today's Illinois Rising Star of the Year and SWSC Blue Conference Player of the Year that same season.
