Cellists Mark Kosower and Mingyao Zhao will perform twice at University of Scranton and premiere Nate Sparks’ new composition for strings.

Nathaniel Frissell, Ph.D., assistant professor physics and engineering at The University of Scranton, worked with Scranton students and an international network of ham radio operators he developed to collect data and monitor changes in the ionosphere during the total solar eclipse on April. 8. Dr. Frissell’s project was one of just five Citizen Science Investigations selected by NASA for the study of the total solar eclipse.

Groundbreaking for Building with Groundbreaking Potential

Scranton breaks ground for building designed for ‘groundbreaking’ development of collaborations between the University and the greater Scranton community.

Nineteen students representing The University of Scranton participated in the American Mock Trial Association Regional Competition, which took place at American University, in Washington, D.C., and competed with teams from Yale, Fordham, Swarthmore, American and Catholic University of America, among other colleges and universities. A team of Scranton students won Honorable Mention and two students, Amanda J. Karpiak and Emilia R. Tobey, won Best Witness awards.

This is the second-time Dr. Boyle has received this national award.

Campus Health and Safety information regarding COVID-19 exposure and isolation has been updated to reflect most recent CDC recommendations.

Registration is open to area middle and high school soccer players at all skill levels for the Scranton Soccer Fest, set for May 4 at The University of Scranton’s Fitzpatick Field. Groups of six to 10 can register to compete in the 6-on-6 tournament in the following age divisions: U12 male; U12 female; U14 coed; high school male; and high school female. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the American Breast Cancer Foundation.

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants “Strategies for Boosting Accounting Enrollment An AICPA Pipeline Acceleration Report” noted The University of Scranton Accounting Department’s successful initiatives to increase interest in the field of accounting, as well as efforts to support students studying accounting at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Only 13 colleges in the nation were included in the report that cites examples of innovative successful strategies for expanding access to accounting programs, enhancing student engagement and empowering student success.
