University of Missouri Reviews

My overall experience at the University of Missouri has generally been good. There are plenty of opportunities to excel in academics, networking, and personal growth. The impetus is on you to take advantage of these opportunities!
My first year at Mizzou was an especially trying year. It was 2020, so most classes were online. It was pretty difficult to make friends at the time. The campus felt incredibly different to what it would become in the future.
In regards to academics, Mizzou gets a bad rap for being a party school but I argue otherwise. Mizzou has excellent faculty and students that make it an incredible university to attend.
The core values of the university are Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Excellence. In your time at Mizzou, you will have to demonstrate and master all 4 of these values to crack the nectar of Mizzou and drink from its prosperity!

The campus is pretty big, but fun to walk around in because it’s so pretty. Some buildings are old and some are new, so you never know if your lecture or class is going to be in a squeaky busted room or the nicest room there is. Food on campus is complicated. Yes there are ways to get food on campus but those options become old so fast and, despite how it’s marketed, there really aren’t that many options to begin with. Housing is a hit or miss, you could get a really nice dorm like gateway or you could get something like Defoe-Graham, the difference in the two is stark. Parties and campus social life is present, but it is a backpack school so you have to actively get involved or know someone who is involved with Greek life to really be into it. Last thing I’ll say, about professors. Some of the best teachers you could possibly get, who are passionate about their job and love what they do- or you could get a horrible one, just read rate my professor and you’ll be fine on that front.
With being a transfer student, I came to Mizzou my sophomore year of college and I felt like I was welcomed with open arms. I had a very smooth transition here and ended going out of my comfort zone and joined a sorority. Mizzou has made it very easy for me to meet friends not only within my sorority, but within the classroom, on campus, at work on campus, etc. There is always opportunities to meet people or experience something new at Mizzou. Coming up on my final year here, I am sad to leave such a welcoming environment that I am so glad I got to call my home away from home. I have experienced some bad professor interactions but i think that is something everyone goes through. Mizzou does have a high volume of students in some classes, which does make it hard to really get to know the professor or other students, but with being in my program of 17, I have learned to grow with not only my peers, but also a close relationship with my professors within my program as well.
