Baguio city has formally opened a new office that specifically deals with the affairs and concerns of the members of the Philippine veterans last March 8, 2024 at the Camp Allen. The event was attended by officials such as PVAO Administrator, USEC. Reynaldo B Mapagu, PMA Superintendent, LTGEN. Rowen S Tolentino, Baguio City Congressman, Hon. Marquez O. Go represented by his son, Architect Aris Go, Baguio City Mayor, Hon. Benjamin B Magalong and VFP Regional President- CAR, Veteran Darlito P Dumlao. The ceremony was officiated by Command Chaplain, PMA, Col Stephen A Penetrate.

The employees of PVAO would be transferred to the said establishment to have further and better services that deal with the members of the association. According to USEC. Mapagu, this is timely to be more efficient on their tasks leveraging technology to enhance the system to produce more quality services.

Engr. Valerico Lim, Chief of the General Services and Support Management of the PVAO-CAR mentioned that this would not just be beneficial for the Veterans but also for the convenience of the staff. He also added that the agency aims for the Veterans to seek the building as their second home. “Hindi lang siya bricks (and) mortars, kung hindi, we want this building, this structure to be home para sa ating mga beterano. Aside from yung the job of processing their needs, gusto namin talaga na magkaroon ng tunay na interaction, relationship talaga sa ating mga beterano”.

The members sent their appreciation and stated that it would be convenient since they do not have to go to Manila to express their concerns anymore.

“Maganda na meron kaming building na mapupuntahan para yung mga…kahit mga spouse namin, pwede dito malapit-lapit lang sa city.” Abraham Tadeo, a Veteran member said.  | Princess Lhura Jesusa Payumo
