I was really expecting more. It is beautiful, but compared to the other monuments in DC, this feels a bit minimal. However, I am grateful there is a memorial to the Air Force and one can always see it driving by and thus it is a constant reminder to appreciate and honor those who served.

First of all, it is not close or convenient to anything else to see in DC. The spires apparently represent an aerial maneuver, but I fail to see it. Looks overall uninspired to me (no pun intended!). For USAF vets, it's worth a pilgrimage. For others, you can basically see it all from I-395.

My family spent some time here on a morning with friends. This is a nice, unique memorial to the USAF. It’s not a huge footprint, but it’s worth a visit. It also sits on a hill next to Arlington National Cemetery and overlooks the Pentagon, with a great view of the DC skyline.

Beautiful memorial. Worth spending some time appreciating all the efforts of our Airmen. Ceremonies must be great here

You can see this monument from afar. Looking at the monument up close is inspiring. The monument sits on a location that has awesome city views. Plenty to see which makes a visit worthwhile.

Looks simple but one you get under it and look up it's pretty cool. The view of DC from here is great as well. Another quick stop but worth it.

Impressive sculpture, some accompanying history, but if you are not local to the area and not on a tour, it can be hard to get to.

Wonderful view of the city, but tough to stay there long if the weather is hot and humid. It's an easy drive to this memorial, which is situated right next to the Pentagon, Fort Myer and the 9-11 Memorial at the Pentagon. But on a hot, muggy day it would be a tough walk for those not prepared for that type of weather, although it is only about 15 minutes from the Pentagon. this Memorial is dedicated to the flying history of the Air Force and is very impressive in person. Stand in the center of the 3 metal "swooshes" and you will be impressed with the symmetry of the design. I would not make this the sole reason for your visit to this area, though. If you aren't into the Pentagon or the 9-11 Memorial there, it is near the Pentagon City Mall - a walk from this Memorial to the Mall would take about 20 minutes across the Pentagon parking lot. Depending on weather, it could be a challenge.

This is one of D.C.'s newer monuments and the architects did a fabulous job with it. It looks like nothing I've ever seen and if you have the time and you are in the area it's a must see. Accessible by the Pentagon metro station but it is still a bit of a hike from there. The spires arching forward are supposed to simulate Air Force jets flying skyward. And the view of Washington from the bluff it sits on is great, too.

You can stop by enroute to almost anywhere. Easy to find because you can see it and the signs are good. Take about 30 minutes to read the air battles and honor the Medal of Honor Awardees.

We will be going to Arlington National Cemetery via the metro from DC. What is the best way to then get to the Air Force Memorial?

Best way to do is taking the Metro and get off at the Pentagon Station, walk to the Memorial (15-20 minutes depend on your speed. Or you can take bus that goes via Columbia Pike but if you can walk, I would suggest walking because half way to the Memorial you can also visit the Pentagon (9/11) Memorial. Enjoy the tirp.

Excellent parking and it is free. There is a security guard on duty as well. Flat area, easy for elderly or handicapped access. Not crowded at all the day we went.
