"Unbreakable" is the second single by American singer Madison Beer. It was released on June 17, 2014 and was originally intended to be the second single from a scrapped debut album.
Background[]
Originally, there was a lot of debate between Madison, her parents, and her management on whether or not she should release "Unbreakable." At the time, Madison was very glad that the song eventually did get released because she wanted to release a song that people could go to when they were in a low point in their life or going through something difficult.[1] Madison said her goal for "Unbreakable" was to make a song that was uplifting and inspiring. She said she liked Katy Perry's song "Firework" and wanted to make a similar message.[2]
Music video[]
Madison filmed the music video in early June 2014 and released it the same day as the song. It was directed by Sequoia Blodgett. While filming, there was a bucket of water near by in case anything caught fire from Madison's smoke emitter. Madison says during one take, the smoke emitter shot hot air at her and she thought that she was bleeding but she wasn't.[3]
Controversy[]
When the "Unbreakable" music video came out, a lot of people claimed that Madison copied Ariana Grande's outfit in her "Baby I" music video. However, Madison stated that she had a stylist for the video who chose her outfit and even if she did pick the clothes herself, Madison looks up to Ariana and it shouldn't matter.[4]
