Aston Villa: Emery has Wolves headache after 3G/A int'l ace shines

Aston Villa: Morgan Rogers gives Unai Emery headache v Wolves after England Under-21 feats

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery will be keen to have all of his international stars back fit and fighting for a busy run-in.

The Midlands club return to action from the latest international break on Saturday (30 March) when they host Wolves in a Premier League clash.

A top four spot is very much on the cards, but Emery also has to focus plenty of his time and energy on the Europa Conference League.

French side Lille await in quarter-finals, with the two European legs both taking place in mid-April. But for now it is all eyes on league action, and Emery must select an XI that is capable of getting past a talented Wolves side.

And the man in the dugout has been handed a selection headache following the international break, with young forward Morgan Rogers surely in contention to start after his England Under-21s exploits.

The 21-year-old has somewhat struggled for minutes at Aston Villa since his January move from Middlesbrough, but he might have forced his way into Emery’s thoughts after shining on the international stage.

Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers impresses for England Under-21s

Rogers grabbed an assist as England Under-21s beat Azerbaijan 5-1 in Euro qualification, before bagging a brace as they defeated Luxembourg 7-0 in another qualifier.

Impressively, that double arrived from the bench, with his two goals coming in the space of just 28 minutes [Transfermarkt].

The young forward will now be keen to find the back of the net for his club, with Rogers yet to score or indeed grab an assist from his six Aston Villa matches so far.

But given his exploits for Middlesbrough earlier in the campaign, the talented attacker is just one assist and three goals shy of double figures in both areas, with Rogers currently on seven goals and nine assists in all competitions [Transfermarkt].

The youngster must, however, be more threatening in front of goal for his numbers to increase, with Rogers having had just four shots in the league this season, behind the likes of defenders Clement Lenglet (six) and Diego Carlos (five), as per the official Premier League website.

Will Unai Emery start Morgan Rogers when Aston Villa take on Wolves?

His time on the pitch has, of course, limited the number of shots he can take, with Emery surely going to hand the attacker more minutes as the season progresses.
