Why Udinese-Roma will resume from 72nd minute and not replayed in full - Football Italia

Sunday’s suspended match between Udinese and Roma will resume from the 72nd minute when the game eventually re-starts, due to a specific set of Serie A rules that differ to the majority of major leagues across Europe.

The Serie A rules differ from those of the Premier League for example, where a suspended match must be replayed in full at a later date mutually agreed by the two clubs.

As per Serie A regulations, suspended matches must continue from the minute where the game was originally halted.

The game must also continue with the same line-ups, and players who were substituted off will not be able to re-enter.

For Roma, that means that Dean Huijsen and Houssem Aouar will not be involved when the rest of the Udinese match is played out, as they were subbed off for Rick Karsdorp and Paulo Dybala respectively in the 53rd minute.

The same rules apply for Udinese, so they will not be able to field Kingsley Ehizibue or Hassane Kamara, who were replaced by Joao Ferreira and Jordan Zemura in the second half.

Any bookings will also remain in place, so for Roma that means Tommaso Baldanzi must tread with caution. For Udinese, the booked players were Martin Payero, Jaka Bijol and the aforementioned Kamara.
