NHLRC

The National Heritage Language Resource Center is funded by the Department of Education's Title VI. NHLRC's mission is to develop effective pedagogical approaches that address the needs of heritage language learners, by creating a research base and pursuing curriculum design, materials development, and teacher education to support heritage language learners in becoming highly proficient bilinguals.

Russian Flagship

The Russian Flagship is a federally funded program designed to enable UCLA undergraduates with any major to reach professional-level competence in Russian. Flagship students combine study at UCLA with a summer program and a capstone year abroad, which includes an internship.

Community Programs

The center offers a variety of programs for language communities and educators including summer language classes in less commonly taught languages spoken in the Los Angeles area, a Russian proficiency exam for high school students, online script courses, and online heritage language teacher development workshops.
