Our family enjoyed a great day of tubing on the Bogue Chitto River. The folks at Canoe and Trail Outpost were very nice and answered all of our questions (we had never been tubing before) and did everything to make this a great time for our family. We were dropped off by the CTO team and then floated down the river. We took a cooler with us and stopped on one of the sand bars for lunch. It was a very slow, relaxing day where we could just enjoy each other and the outdoors. Awesome!

I took a group of students to Canoe Outpost for a day trip/team building exercise. They loved it. Miss Kathy was so helpful and Miss Kim actually recommended we eat at Bo's steakhouse which was absolutely delicious.

had a great time on our 4th of July trip! there is a lot of parking. prices are fair. busses take you upriver and you pick a tube, then jump in! we took drinks and food and stopped a few times along the way. the tent camping spots are nice - right on the riverbank. you can rent one of several small cabins - also on the riverbank. love going here!

DO NOT GO CANOEING HERE!!!! We have been customers here for many years and have never been treated like we were on our recent trip. The water way has gotten worse every year but we have still always pushed that aside beings we know they don't ride through and cut anything to help when big trees fall like others places do. This year though we got yelled at, cursed out, and shot at ( yes you read that right) by the locals. When we got to a safe area to stop we called the business to let them know and they already knew because the locals called them already (the locals were family/close friends). Then the cops were involved and we were told by canoe and trail and the cops that we are lucky the dad wasn't alive because he would have actually shot us and not at us. We will not be returning here ever again it is not a safe place to be. They DO NOT care about their customers one bit!!!!

We started out at Canoe Trail and Outpost in Tylertown Mississippi on Friday July 6 2018. When we called to book the cabin we were told that the cabin could sleep 6 people in the arrangement of two full size beds and a set of bunk beds. When we got to the cabin we found home brew bunk beds with some lumpy futon mattresses on them that hung over the edge of the bunk by about 6 inches plus a single classic futon.

Never the less it did sleep 6, so we decided to roll with it.. We unpacked and went to the store to grab some burgers to grill, after dinner we started making our way inside to wash up and get some sleep. When we got in the cabin we noticed the humidity was high and attributed it to the fact the the bathroom has no ceiling its just a partition wall that separates the bath from the studio cabin two people had already showered so it was highly probable the humidity was from the shower.

A few hours later it started raining and at this point it was cooler outside than it was inside! Then I went into engineer mode we have a 16x16 cabin that is 256 square foot. The AC unit is 5000btu that is good for about 150 square foot, so the AC unit is under sized by about 3335btu from the start. We have 6 people in the room the average person gives off about 600 btu of heat each, So 600x6= 3600btu just in people plus the heat load of 3335 btu the AC cannot handle gives us a gross under size of about 6935btu! I knew it was going to be a bad night at this point and just tried to get some sleep.. I ended up sleeping for less than 1 hour.

First thing in the morning I went to speak with one of the workers, he informed me the owner would be in shortly and she could make the call to replace the AC unit in the cabin. Once the owner got to the camp ground I had a conversation with her that veered out in to left field about how refrigeration systems work and the proper names of the components "Ill just leave this statement at that". The outcome of said conversation got the workers to come look at the cabin who informed us that they had a 10,000btu AC unit in the barn he would bring over. Three hours went by and no one returned to our cabin with a new AC or information regarding said AC. We packed our things and departed before the checkout time as I did not want to be charged for the second night.

When we departed Monique dropped the key off to the owner and said sorry we are leaving, the owner seamed sincere saying she was sorry that they were going to purchase a new AC unit. At this point I did not care it is not hard to stop by our cabin and let us know what was going on furthermore it does not take a genius to read the side of the box when you buy a window unit to be sure it is of adequate size to cool the room you are installing it in!

I was dead set on just going back home, Matt ended up getting us a room at the Days Inn in McComb where we had a wonderful night in a nice cold room! We got up Sunday morning and went Kayaking at Gators near the Bogue Chitto State Park.

All in all we ended up having fun on the river, I just wish Canoe Trail and Outpost had a better setup. The CTO campground has lots of potential but you know almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades!

This is a family owned business. The cabins are clean and right on the river . These are real cabins not old shacks .The driver is mainly shallow so inexperienced kayakers can learn with ease !

The staff and crew guides were very helpful and concerned about the safety of the adult leaders and scouts on the river. Our troop will revisit in the future.
