Stay in Oltrano, Florence Hills or Duomo?

Would it be better for a family with kids to stay in Oltrano, Florence Hills (I am assuming Tuscany villages) or Duomo as first time visitors in Florence? Interest include visiting Pisa, visiting uphill towns and just moving at a slow pace. Would like it better if the place has a pool as the kids would love it on a hot summer day in August.

Also, should we rent a car to go to Pisa and drive around the hill towns?

If you are visiting Florence in Summer and with children, then do look at the Florence Hills for properties with pools. It's a simple transfer into the city for a day of sightseeing and the children and you will appreciate a return to your accommodation and the joy of the pool.

Also, most of the properties outside of the city will have free parking facilities, if you would like to keep the car for some day trips to the country. This will also be easier, since you are already outside of the city traffic and street driving limitations.

Have a look at www.booking.com, http://www.airbnb.com
