The Arizona Sonra Desert Museum is a relatively short drive from downtown Tucson. The views along the drive are spectacular. There is off street free parking though on a busy day, the parking in this can be tight. Pima County residents' entry fee is about $25 per person. Even when crowded, the space allows for visitors to spread out. The museum is a unique combination of a zoo and a botanical garden. There are both inside and outside displays with a half mile walk out trail into the desert landscape. The facilities include a very nice gift shop with a wide variety of items. You can also purchase drinks and food on the grounds. There are areas designed for young children including an air conditioned inside playroom. The docents are well informed and provide worthwhile demonstrations. Only the sting ray display requires an additional cost. Every guest i have brough to the museum has really enjoyed it.

What a wonderful museum. A must see. When we first were planning to visit we expected a large outside museum with walking a quick loop outside, but we didn’t realize how many other internal hangers there were and great well documented exhibits. This could easily be a 3-4 hour visit. The place exceeded all expectations for a reasonable admission fee. We ran out of time on our trip to see everything but will definitely be back.

Be sure to check out the B17 390th bomb group museum that is on the museum grounds. It’s free with the museum admission and there are reviews on trip advisor for this sub museum in the museum :)

Wow! Take the Canyon Crawler tram. It goes to the “top” without stopping, but then you can get off for a few minutes or stay at that stop for as long as you’d like and pick up another tram to go down. You can get off at other stops along the way down. think there are nine all together.
We were at the top stop for the partial eclipse—super fun.
Note: There is an $8 fee to park but our National Park pass was honored.

This is a wonderful trip that takes about a half day. From Tucson, the top of the mountain is about 27 miles of well-tended twisting roads. There are many viewing sited as well as places to stop and park. For the energetic, there are also many hiking trails to follow. The scenery is fantastic. The road ends at a small town with some shops and eateries. There is also the opportunity to ride a small open ski lift for about $17 at the top. This is certainly something that gives the viewer an excellent sampling of the countryside.

A wonderful experience. Take the free “tour” which is given outside to maintain a quiet, spiritual space inside. The original mission was founded in 1767(?).

This park has two sections: one on the east and one on the west of Tucson. Both have ranger stations where activities may be planned. Both also have facilities, gift shops, and educational displays. An interpretive film is helpful in learning about the area. For those not wishing to hike, there are circular drives that bring the viewer through prime Sonoran desert ecosystems. All is professionally done.

The only reason I lowered my stars is the price. Fortunately, we have a senior pass that allows free entry. Otherwise, the charge is $20 per car. That seems pricely for an 8 or 5 mile drive. While the National Park has prime scenery, it is no different from other area parks and hillsides that have the exact same variety which can be viewed for free.

This is a great little bit of Tucson that introduces the visitor to dessert ecosystems while just a block off a main street. The short walks transport the viewer through various Sonoran flora species in a well-labeled and organize way. Visiting in April was a treat as so many plants were in full bloom. There is much to see and learn, including sculptures, water features, and very nice facilities.

The park has a fine gift shop as well as a restaurant. We did not dine in but enjoyed the shade provided. There are docent lectures and other programs scheduled in a fine amphitheater. The admission price was reasonable for this remarkable little corner of the world that is not to be missed.

This was just good old-fashioned fun. We arrived an hour before the show, so we could get drinks and dinner before the show. Pizza, chicken strips, and hot dog were good; cocktails were very good. We ordered a Banana Split Extravaganza and 4 forks, which the server delivered at intermission. It was so tasty, and just the right size for the four of us. The show and the after-show were very fun, and good for all ages. We wished we had such an entertaining place as this in our town.

Beautiful scenery with many different hiking trails to choose from. My wife and I did the Canyon Loop on a beautiful March morning. The trail was just the right length and difficulty for two novice hikers. The views at certain points are truly breathtaking.

We just loved the beautiful gallery grounds, which reflect the art, soul and creativity of Ted De Grazia. There are small buildings and gardens to explore, a main gallery, even a chapel. Various art everywhere, all against the spectacular backdrop of the Santa Catalina Mountains. De Grazia was close to the Tohono O'Odham people, formerly called Papago, and his art reflects this connection. We left uplifted and inspired.

If you are a mini enthusiast you MUST go. Our timing gave me only an hour- boo hoo. Plan on at least two hours. It is very well thought out museum where the minis are excellently displayed. There were two special exhibits when I was there- fascinating.
It’s a bit hard to find but persevere. There is a bench inside if not everyone wants to go in ( my husband).

Would certainly recommend the gardens for an hour or two of relaxation. Different types of gardens that thrive in the desert, butterfly house and a food truck to grab a snack if desired. Kept up well, most plants, trees identified.
