I have this version including the "Stereo-BN 26413" in the upper right but not seeing the D12 and B9 etches, only "DA" etched on side 1. Anyone know the release year?

I don't see how this issue differs from the very first issue. Can anyone shed some light on that for me? My copy is sealed and I'm not sure I want to open it...might sell it. Thanks.

I have to disagree with the prior reviewer that this original UK stereo is as poorly recorded as noted. I, too, have the Sundazed mono (which I love) and the MoFI 45s and SACD. I will have to do a shootout but I can’t remember having this positive an impression about the general sound quality with the MOFIs as I do with this original. The instrument separation is much better than I imagined if not perfect. Yes, the low end is there but not overly such that it detracts from the overall sound quality. It does have a grungy type feel which I am sure was intended but not muddy to the point of detracting from the presentation. I think they got the recording more right than wrong for the type music that was being presented. Time to do a shoot out. I think this one is a keeper and like it substantially more than the original US. Finding clean copies is a challenge particularly for US originals. I’d stick to the UK.

Would a one box EMI label be a 1969 press - i had thought (and may be mistaken) that the two EMI label wasnt introduced until 1971?

I am shocked this one has no reviews! A serious winner and in my opinion beats all the stereos including the MOFI and Friday Music. No surprise that Kevin Gray cut the lacquers. But, with a mono cartridge or mono switch it is very punchy and rocks like this album should. These are also pricy but this edition is one to have if this is one of your desert island albums.

I am a little wary of Friday Music releases that do not involve Kevin Gray. But, have you tried to find a clean 1968 for a reasonable price? The vinyl on most is inevitably noisy from use or otherwise. Buying a true VG+ or better is prohibitive. I was able to get this one for $30 in a local shop a year or so ago but see the price has shot up drastically since. Ron McMaster was involved in this one and it turned out very well. Clear and good separation for the most part and rocks like it should. Also, nice not to be flipping sides with the MOFI although the MOFI is a bit better. Looks like there was a limited re-release in 2018 but that one is scarce and high priced now, too. Good luck in the search but this one is a good one to have at the right price. But, can you find it at the right price?

This is quite vivid. You'll have no trouble picking out the instruments, and the guitar is well-captured. Rod Stewart's voice is fairly sharply focused in the middle. The drums occupy the left channel, and I hear guitar in the right channel. The drums seem to come out of the laft channel, with the bass.

Everthing is very clear and sharply focused. It's a very well-done album.
