How to Start Readvent of Calamity

Visit Melve After One of Captain Brant's Quest

To unlock Readvent of Calamity, you'll have to return to Melve after completing one of Captain Brant's Vernworth quests and before completing Feast of Deception.

The last possible time you can trigger the dragon attack is after coronation and before talking to Brant after he's come up with his plan of action. If you complete Feast of Deception, you won't be able to witness the Dragon attacking Melve, making you miss the event to trigger this quest.

How to Complete Readvent of Calamity

1. Repel the Dragon
2. Return to Melve from After a Day
3. Find Ulrika in Harve Village
4. Inform Lennart of Ulrika's Wellbeing

Repel the Dragon

It may seem daunting, but this quest will only require you to repel the dragon, not slay it. Attack with caution knowing that after lowering its initial health bar to half, the dragon will retreat.

To deal the most damage to the dragon, aim for the blisters around its body. You should be able to repel it successfully as long as you are cautious of the dragon's powerful attacks, such as the body slam and fire breath.

Unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation

With the dragon's departure, the townspeople, Ulrika and Lennart, will thank you for your assistance. Look around for Sigurd, a hooded man who carries a large spear on his back. Ask for his name and his manner of fighting and you'll learn of the Mystic Spearhand vocation - an Arisen-exclusive vocation that makes use of magick and the duospear.

How to Unlock Mystic Spearhand Vocation

Return to Melve After a Day

Leave Melve and let a day pass by to progress the quest. Once a day has passed, return to Melve and proceed to Ulrika's house. Enter the house and proceed to the room at the right-side corner to trigger a cutscene.

Ulrika will ask you to stay the night in return for helping the village. The next morning, leave the house to start another cut scene that will inform you of Ulrika's sudden escape from the village.

Find Ulrika in Harve Village

Travel to Harve Village to find Ulrika. There, you should see her standing in the middle of the village. Approach her and start a conversation with her. She'll then tell you details about her travels and will ask you to inform Lennart that she is safe.

Inform Lennart of Ulrika's Wellbeing

Return once again to Melve and proceed to Ulrika's old house. Inside, you'll find Lennart waiting for you to bring news about our exiled maiden. Inform him about Ulrika's whereabouts and wellbeing to end the quest.

Readvent Calamity Tips and Strategies

Important Villagers May Die in the Attack

It's possible for some villagers to die when the dragon attacks, including important ones that may play a role in later quests. These include the brothers Norbert and Ian, which you help during the Brothers Brave and Timid side quest.

If either Norbert or Ian die during the dragon attack, then it's impossible to enlist the aid of the surviving brother during the quest Home is Where the Hearth Is and you'll be forced to attack the soldiers guarding the storehouse or purchase the swords on your own.

We recommend getting a complete Wakestone before starting this quest just in case an important NPC dies during the attack.
